My ford f150 wont start, battery is good, have a

On the firewall is the starter motor relay. There are 2 large battery sized cables to it, and 1 smaller ( 16 AWG ) wire that is orange or orange with a stripe ( forget the color, want to say white or tan ).

When you turn the key to the start position, check the smaller gauge wire for +12 V. The case should be ground. If you do not get +12 on the orange wire, try starting the truck in neutral ( apply the parking brake, chock the wheel, etc normal safety precautions ). Test for +12 V at the small wire. This is the output of the DTR ( Digital Transmission Range ) sensor or in common terms the Neutral switch. The start position on the ign switch runs through the DTR to the starter motor relay coil.
If you have a stick, the DTR is replaced by the Clutch Pedal Position Switch ( clutch must be pushed in to start ).
If you have power to this ( at the times the truck won't start ) next is to check the both battery cable ends to see if they are corroded and making intermittent contact ( not probable but possible ).

Need to replace the starter on a 2000 F150, 5.4L V8 4X4. Does anyone have instructions on how to do this so I don't tear anything up or electricute myself in the process?

you wont if you remove your negative battery cable from the battery.then remove wires from your starter and then remove the two mounting bolts from your starter and there you have it.

How to wire a starter on a 2000 ford f-150

Very fool proof procedure, the wires are all different sizes so just pay attention, if the connector feels sloppy than it doesn't belong, all connections should be tight . Make sure that you disconnect your battery before installation.

well the starter holds in with 2 bolts, which takes a 1/2 inch wrench, and there is 1 wire going to the starter from the starter solenoid, just unbolt the 2 bolts and drop down the starter so you can unbolt the large wire

Need to know how to install starter on 1997 ford

There "should"only be one large red wire coming from the starter relay on the pass. side fender well going directly to the starter.
It may be black, but i'm sure it's red.

2000 ford truck starting problems

most likley the positive wire has corroded off the starter. look at the small red wire more closely, if theres alot of corosion, replace the wire (and starter if needed) if you dont see much corrosion give the wire a good tug just to see if it really is hooked up well. you should disconnect the batt. before doing any of this.hope this helps and good luck
