Question about 1995 GMC Jimmy

3 Answers

I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy that won't start.

I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy 4x4, 4.3 Vortex V6. It doesn't start without squirting gas into the manifold. Once it starts, it runs like a top, but every time you have to squirt the fuel into the intake manifold. The fuel filter has been changed and the fuel pressure was checked is okay. Anybody know what could be causing this? Thanks

Don't know. The mechanic told us the psi was AOK, 60 pounds or better. He said it was the fuel filter and replaced it. It started for one day and then every day after it won't start unless you squirt fuel in the manifold. Talked to the mechanic again and he said it was probably the fuel injectors. If it were the injectors, wouldn't they act up even after the car is running? Runs great once it starts.

It sounds like a faulty fuel pressure regulator. When you turn the key to the on position the fuel pump starts for an instant to build pressure in the fuel line. If the pressure regulator has allowed too much leakage since the last start then the fuel pump does not have enough time to prime the line. The fuel pressure will still measure ok when the car is running because the leakage is very low. Try turning the key off and on a few times prior to starting and see if the extra pump priming steps help. Also check the vacuum line to the regulator because it needs vacuum to work correctly.

Ok i need your help I got a 95 gmc jimmy with a 4.3 vortex that's not starting I got fuel coming to the filter but no fuel going to the motor anybody got any ideals?

is there fuel coming out of filter. with it being a vortex motor it could be the fuel pressure is too low to open the fuel injectors or you have a cracked fuel line inside the intake manifold and not allowing the fuel to go out the injectors.

My gmc jimmy truck starts with starting fluid then stopS

sounds like no gas getting to the carb. plugged fuel filter, fuel line, bad fuel pump. the carb should squirt a little gas when the throttle is pumped. leave ignition off while looking down the carb and pump the throttle linkage to visually check that gas is squirting down the carb with each stroke of the linkage. maybe you are just out of gas!!

Engine turns over but wont start. 1997 gmc jimmy

Fuel Pump or starter. Since you say it's turning over but won't start I'd say it's your fuel pump. You'll probably have to drop your gas tank to fix this problem as your fuel pump is in the tank. You might be able to just loosen the straps and lower your tank a little to access it without removing the whole tank. Check around to local junk yards for this part and you'll probably find it for half the price as new. Make sure you can get your money back if the used pump doesn't work before you pay for it though. Don't forget to run fuel system cleaner (2 bottles to a full tank) once a month.

My Jimmy won't start. I think it might be the

Try squirting a small amount of gasoline into the intake to see if the engine fires up. If it does, then the fuel pump is probably burnt out. Also, check all fuses, and inspect the fuel pump wires.

Jimmy sits for a couple of days, won"t start

well if you live some where where its cold and you didnt plug it that probably why but if not maybe your alternator is broken or your gas line might be frozen if its cold outside. good luck

My 94 Jimmy had similar problems, until the dirty EGR valve was replaced. We tried a million things, first. But the improvement with the new EGR valve has HUGE.

Open the hood. Look just behind the left headlight. Go figure. but it is a really easy location to work on.
