Cant open the passenger door after it was slammed

cant open the passenger door after it was slammed shut. both in and out door handle rods are connected and pulling and pushing on the latch inside the door. what can i do to get the door open?

the only way is to try to get the panel off the door......if not able to get fully off, then need to get enough near the door handle to be able to put your hand in to the mechanism
