Under the hood itself, there should be a sticker. It should be info on Emission standards for the car.
The Emission sticker should list the engine displacement for size. For an example, 1.6L, 1.8L, 2.0L.
Some auto-part store can look up the correct thermostat by the VIN number on the car.

MY 97 SAFARI KEEPS RUNNING HOT I,VE PUT A NEW WATER PUMP IN 3 NEW THERMSTATS I,VE FLUSHED IT EVEN RAN IT 2 DAYS WITHOUT THERMSTAT I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO PLEASE HELP

Has any engine light came on your dashboard at all ? IF so please take it to a Advance Auto Parts store so they can check any codes for free or at no cost to you. Have you checked to see if there is enough oil in the engine plus check to see if your transmission has enough fluids as well. Every engine runs hot because when your injectors lets gasoline into each piston chambers and compresses the fuel so when the spark plugs sparks the fuel will cause a very strong hot flame. So every car engines runs hot so does your temperature gage in your dash board shows what ? Let us know because we are not there to check it ourselves.

How to change thermastat

The thermostate will be found under the upper radiator hose where it meets the engine. With the engine cool disconnect your battery ground (safety sakes) Down low on the radiator you will find a petcock (valve) place a buscket under this and open draining out @ 1 gallon or so of fluid. Remove the upper hose and the the thermstat housing (2-bolts) under it you'll see the thermostate, remove and clean all surface of old gasket. Install new thermostat and new gasket, reassemble, add fluid and place battery ground back. Run the engine for a moment and watch the fluid level after one minute or so add more fluid (if needed) and install cap. Get engine to temperature and watch for leaks. Next two days or so I'd monitor the fluid level in the over-flow and add as needed. Again watch for any leaks. The job itself should only take you an hour or less.
Please let me know if this assited you.
Thanks,
Tom

Need to change thermstat

it's behind the alternator on the side of the engine! Not easy to do. You can do it from the left fender well, but unless you have 10mm short chrome wobble socket it will be tough! Not bad to get off but trying to line the top bolt up with out cross threading it can be a PITA!

Oil change

first you need to know what size the engine is in canada its metric , how many litre? in the u.s. its cubic inches. is the engine a 4cyl. , 6cyl. or 8cyl. most tune ups nowadays consist of sparkplugs and sparkplug wires , and like the other you need to know the size of the engine. its better to go to a oil change garage when they have a special deal on.
