Xj6 engine knocking - 1987 Jaguar XJ6

Where from? Take a long screwdriver, broom handle or stethoscope and listen to various places on the motor while it's running. If the noise comes from down low by the crankshaft it's a crankshaft bearing. If it comes from the cylinder head it's a cam problem. If it comes from the top of the block beneath the cylinder head it's a piston pin, cracked piston or possibly just carbon built up inside the compression chambers. WATCH OUT FOR MOVING PARTS!!! Good luck,

These things are notorius for having weak oil pumps. get one through Carquest auto parts. They can get OEM part through their World Pac division for 1/2 price of Jaguar. Alot of people say the heck with it and put Chevy 350 in it's place( It's a popular thing), and they love it that way.

Jaguar xj6 1982 model/mechanics

It could be as bunnydawg suggested but thiers quite a few other things that could cause that sound. You need to be a little more specific as any of the rotating parts, drive shaft etc, could be the cause of the noise. If not the engine making that noise which is odd as it only gets noisy at specific times,60 and up Check drive shaft uni joints, tyres and harmonic balancer also make sure none of the front pulleys arnt loose.Good luck

Check engine light came on

It's possible that you didn't close your gas cap tight enough. You can take it to a Jiffy Lube, they have a machine that can tell you what's wrong.
