Try removing the battery terminals and clean both posts and terminals. Coat same with an anti-corrosion grease. Wash your hands after this to prevent mysterious holes in your clothes. Start the engine and measure the voltage at the battery terminals--should read 13.5 to 14.5 volts. Hope this helps.

Better check with a test light for power to the small wire that goes to the starter from the key switch. If no power need to check for a neutral safety switch or fuse. Or the starter you got is bad. Alternator will not cause not to crank over

Turn your key all the way back towards you in the battery only postion. Then press and hold the red alarm flashing button til you hear the beeping noise it makes. This will disable your alarm and your car will start.

Dead Battery and clicking noise from passenger side fuse box back up lp relay.

Hello! The Automatic Trans-axle Internal mode switch (the switch that changes states when you shift to reverse) is more than likely the culprit...The relay that is clicking is receiving a ground as if you are backing up...That ground could also be in the wiring itself but the switch is the most probable cause...The wire colors in the connector plug to the switch are...Dark Green/White...Red/Black and Black/White...With the car in Park there is probably a ground on the Dark Green/White wire...I would suggest changing the switch...Guru...saailer

Not the Key but the ignition itself. Replace teh ignition module where the key is inserted to start the vehicle and that should resolve the issue.

2001 expedition 5.4l. wont crank

get a multimeter and test battery output, if more than 13v when you turn key to crank position if below then battery may be faulty and not holding charge, check starter relay and fuse, if ok also check for any parasitic draw from any accesary that might draw down battery when engine not running

1998 ranger the battery loses all of its charge some nights.other mornings the truck starts fine.the battery has been replaced.the mechanic is finding it hard to figure out the problem because it starts...

Intermittent problems can be a real pain. When you park truck and shut off, check if you hear anything like a fan motor running, clicking noise etc. Also check if glove box light (if equipped) is actually off. Check that brake lights are not staying on which may be a simple brake switch adjustment.
