Question about 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup, 4wd with 5.9 liter gas. I ran over a bump in the road yesterday and my ABS and brake light indicators came on. I checked all of the connections I could find and everything appeared to be okay. I unplugged the battery positive terminal today for 5 + minutes to reset the computer and it did not reset. What could this be?
These are extremely complex systems and more likley than not, there is nothing wrong with the abs system. If you don't feel a pulsing force against your braking foot pedal, than you've got nothing to worry about than getting the dealer to clear the code in the abs control box. Again, if you feel NO changes in your braking system what probably happened is when you hit the bump/pothole one of your wheels went slightly faster than the one opposite it and the abs kicked in for a split second therefore storing a code.

The pickup sensor on the rear axle or on the tranny needs to be replaced.my 99 was doing the same thing.if you don't fix it preety soon the speedometer will stop working.the part cost about $40.I let the shop do it &the total was $270.
