It is a bulb failure warning lamp.
Watch to see when it comes on
When you: turn on the parking lights, put car in reverse, turn on headlights, step on the brake, etc, you get the idea. It usually will give you a clue as to what circuit a bulb has failed. These cars are particular about the wattage of bulbs you install. Use OE if you can. Try this site for your owner manual needs.

What does the exclamation symbol in a circle mean?

The exclamation mark inside a circle that looks something like a gear means you're having or are about to have an issue with your transaxle. I recommend you get your car to a transmission repair shop before the damage is too serious.

The "Check Engine Light" could be something major, or something as minor as a loose
gasoline filler cap. The only way to know is to find someone who can attach an OBD-II code reader
to your car's ODB-II computer port and talk to your car's on-board computer, and ask it what it thinks
is wrong.
Also, the "Yellow light with the triangle that has an exclamation mark in the middle and a circle going around" could be the SES light (Service Engine Soon), which could mean that everything is fine with the car, except the SES light needed to be reset at the 3400Km oil change, but it wasn't.
In the U.S., Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts are national parts store chains that will read the ODB-II codes setting your "Check Engine" light free - don't know who will do this free in Canada/U.K., though.

A trouble light has come on, a exclamation mark with a red circle around it. what does it mean?

You'll have to take the vehicle somewhere that has a Code reader that can identify the stored codes from the ECM for your vehicle. Auto Zone does this for free.

The light came up on instrument panel. its the one looks like an exclamation mark. is ther a problem with the hydraulic brake system?

There are two symbols with an exclamation mark. The first is a oblong circle with the exclamation mark inside with ( ) on each side of the oblong circle. That symbol is for brake system warning light. Check brake fluid level, check brake pads. The other symbol is (!) and is flat on the bottom its suppose to resemble a tire, it means there is a problem with the tire monitor system, check your tire pressure, if you have low tires you will have to drive car after servicing the tires then the light should go out. Tire pressure should be on a placard on the driver door or door frame.

If you mean a circle that looks sort of like a gear with an exclamation mark in the middle, it represents the Transaxle fault light.
