Why yes there is. it is the same kinda set-up as a 4wd, the only difference is the AWD is running constantly, while the 4WD drive can be shifted into 4WD high or low.

Has the car even been in an accident? If so it could be a bent frame (worse case), Otherwise the car could be off balance and needing an alignment (Most likely - best case) :)

More than likely it's a broken motor mount. Motor twists under torque and is stressing to transfer case. Possible driveline but highly doubtful.

I have a 97 isuzu rodeo 4x4 v6, the other day I switched from two wheel into four wheel high and after trying to shift into two wheel again it won't but shifts between 4 hi n 4 low


the operators guide tells tells you, dont do that.
its not AWD, its part time system. like jeeps.
if not on ice or dirt stay out of 4wd. its only for that.
never on dry pavement.
and the dangers to you and transfer case.
im sure your car is not AWD or Full time 4wd.

your car has no center differential, so..... stop expecting one.

which wranger, sport, SE, X, unlimited? what?
my 08 is not awd, cant do what you just did.

first off we dont know what 4wd you have.
nor what mode you picked,
nor if on dirt, ice or snow or dry pavement.

if you are using part time 4wd on dry pavement then this is totally wrong.
the glove box operators guide shows all fuses, lost that
why not get one and read the 4wd pages too.

for sure we need the transfer case model number
did you know the operators guide is different for each
option?

my guess its just 231 case and is part time 4wd
ill quote the manual
Command-Trac should only be driven in 4WD on low-traction surfaces due to the front and rear axles being locked together (no differential action in the transfer case). Driving in 4WD on dry pavement causes excessive wheel and drivetrain wear. Four-wheel modes are most commonly used for wet/slick surfaces or extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.) (4H), towing (N), and off-road activities (4L).

AWD with center differential
or with a vicious coupling added to end the above damage.
you have neither.

Transfer case troubleshooting


no year.????
what are tires touching , ice, nah, dirt? must we guess?????
its and offroad vehicle so we need that. data.
both front tires have zero torque? to the ground or what.?

you can check this out on jack stands.
put it in 4wd and make sure the front drive shaft spins, does it.>?
yes, good, no then transfer case
yes then front axle lock failure. the FSM covers all this.
my wanglers all have part time 4wd drive. not AWD.
so do the testing on dirt or damage the transfer case.
wind up is bad.
the car has no center differential. so do not drive it on pavement ice free. in 4wd. or bam, bad happens.

Front end thumping that gets faster with speed


check for bulges in the side walls of the tyres and check for belt separation. Disconnect the front axles into free wheel mode and if the noise is not there it will be tyre related as there is no movement in the diff or drive axles

This bulletin is being revised to add Subject information and change the labor operation. This bulletin cancels and supersedes Bulletin Number 03-04-21-006. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Numbers 02-04-21-006D and 03-04-21-006 (Section 04 -- Driveline/Axle).
ConditionSome customers may comment that the 4WD/AWD indicator lights on the selector switch do not work, or the 4WD/AWD system may be inoperative and/or the service 4WD light is illuminated. The condition is typically intermittent and always occurs at key-up. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTC C0550 set.
CauseThe Transfer Case Control Module (TCCM) has not received the wake-up call during key-up and has remained in the "sleep mode".
When the TCCM is in the "sleep mode", it will not communicate with the class II bus or the Tech 2®.
Correction
  1. Try to communicate with the TCCM. If no communication, go to step 2. If communication is possible, go to step 5.
  2. Remove the underhood (ATCM or TREC) TCCM fuse.
  3. Wait 30 seconds.
  4. Reinstall the fuse. The module should "wake up" and communicate with the Tech 2®.
  5. Check for codes in the TCCM. If a C0550 is found current or in history with or without other codes, replace the module and go to step 6.
  6. Reprogram the TCCM with the latest TIS software using normal SPS procedures.
  7. Verify operation and that no codes are present.
Important: For the 2002 model year, the TCCM must be replaced and reprogrammed.

Want to convert 93 grand cherokee from 4x4 to 4x2 .. what's neede


take the tansfer case out take the driveline off the front and get a new driveline going to the rear because without transfer case you rear driveline wont be long enough to reach the rear diff, about 8 hours work and $600.00 ruff est, that is only if the transmission is still good
