Check the radiator for fluid levels add as needed also it sounds as if it may be running too rich or lean check the obvious first such as air filter and broken cracked wires lines hoses etc a tune up sounds in order fuel filter also some garages will diagnose the issue for free sounds though as if you need a bit of maintenance at this point

What is the solution to excessive fuel consumption of my 1999 Toyota Corolla

A serviced and correctly timed engine should return decent fuel consumption if driven properly regardless of age. Obviously that return depends on certain conditions. A gentle right foot avoiding harsh acceleration and braking always helps as does where you are driving, busy stop start town traffic and frequent short journeys will reduce efficiency.
So, things to check:
  • Oil and filter change
  • Air filter
  • Tyres at correct pressure
  • Spark plugs, leads, coils condition
  • Fuel leaks
You will never get near the advertised consumption figures as these are recorded under ideal test conditions and I have never encountered them whilst I am driving, but you should be within 10-20% of that figure if driven conservatively.

Toyota corolla specifications

fuel consumption of engines is a question very often asked and seldom answered adequately. There are so many variables that affect consumption so I will give a few
tyre pressure and size
ambient temperature
condition of engine
load carried
number of passengers
weight of driver
dragging brakes
extras on vehicle (roof rack)
wheel alignment
tread pattern of tyres
driving habits
driving conditions (town-country)
driving conditions ( hilly --flat)
road surfaces
slipping into neutral at lights
the list goes on and on so be guided by the expected average of the manufacturer of between 8 litres to 10litres per100kilometers travelled

To get to know about the displacement look at the engine codes which are printed along the engine number on the cylinder block, mostly seen from standing in front of the car with the hood opened. Some of the codes are described as under:
S.No. Model Displ. Year
1.1ZR-FE AURIS 1.6L 2007-11
2. 1ZR-FE COROLLA 1.6 2007-11
3. 1ZZ-FE Avensis 1.8L 2003-09
Cilica 1.8L 2000-03
Corolla 1.8L 2002-07
RAV-4 1.8L 2005-09
4. 2ZR-FE Yaris 1.8L 2007-11

I need the drive cycle for a 2002 Toyota corolla?

About a half hour of freeway driving should do. You just want the computer working in closed loop operation for awhile, long enough to have everything working, all gear shifting gone through, and the engine running for a bit at normal operating temperature. If that doesn't work, try two or three shorter drive cycles. As long as the engine is warmed up, the computer is in closed loop operation (using the sensors to perform engine management), that is basically one drive cycle Hope this helps you.

What does it mean when the dash board lights O/D off

I just means that your high gear (or Over-Drive) is disabled. There should be a button on your dash or near your shift lever that turns this feature on and off. You want it on for normal driving. If you are carying a heavy load or operating in extreme conditions (Like driving up the side of a mountain) you would want to disable this feature to prevent possible transmission overheating and damage.

What is the normal operating temperature for toyota corolla 2000 with A/C on

Hello, and welcome to FixYa.

The normal operating temperature for a 2000 Corolla is 192 degrees F.
The cooling fans should be operating whenever the AC is requested, and the compressor energizes.

What does code 52 means on the toyota corolla 2000 model in SA.

DTC 52 on a 93 Corolla is a Knock Sensor code. I replace the knock sensor; it is located on the side of the engine block, on the side of the engine that faces the firewall. It is in the center; under the intake manifold.
