Problem with My Mercedes 230E (ABS light on and lack of power)

Having issues with my J reg 230E mercedes, my ABS light as come on and it keeps cutting out if and when I stop, I know the battery is Ok has it is New and I dont think the ABS is the problem, it seems to be ticking over very slowly and the acceleration is poor. Any help would be appreacited. I did get very low on petrol and this problem only occured after I had filled up with petrol (this may help)

We have a 1993 Mercedes 400 SEL. The climate control unit has a problem where it will keep turning on and killing the battery. We have been disconnecting the battery cables every time we shut down for more...

The ASR and ABS are voltage sensitive, so each time you disconnect them from power, they will reset. To cancel the ASR light, start engine then turn steering wheel full lock to right, then lock to left...ASR should extinguish. ABS light should then go out once you drive above 8 mph for 100yards or so. Until you can have the climate control looked at by a professional, I would locate and remove the fuse for it when you park up. Much better than disconnecting battery.

I have a mercedes benz 190 power windows /abs etc i got it without an engine but i got a cabretted engine from a old 190 will i have to change the wireing on my car to sute the nonabs car

The ABS system on Mercedes ( or for any car) is an important safety feature. On many Mercedes the ABS module is associated with the Over Voltage Circuitry (OVC) module whose function is closely integrated with the Engine Control Unit (ECU) electronics; this in turn governs the timing and injectors. For instance if I remove the 10amp fuse from my OVC unit, effectively disabling it, I get an ABS warning light and the car runs very unevenly when idling. If I drive the car with this fuse out I have no ABS and when I put the brakes on to slow to a stop the engine will often cut out. Note also that there if the ABS function is not perfect there is the real risk that once triggered the ABS will not disengage from the brakes. I think that trying to put a carburettor engine unit into a body that previously had an injected unit in it will be a very difficult job. Much better would be to find the correct engine type and keep as original as possible. You risk not having a fully operational ABS braking system and this is just too risky from a safety stand point
