Question about 1994 Toyota Camry
Thoughtful solutions/answers greatly appreciated for this: My car bogs down in Drive but moves forward slowly and cruises normally after about 10 to 15 miles/hr. The O/D light starts to blink. I've been starting the car in Low gear and moving up to Drive to get more kick out of it after a rolling or full stop and it seems to help but tranny shifts a little harder when I do this (esp. from Low to 2nd). O/D light comes on after about 10 to 15 minutes and stays blinking until I turn car off. Not a whole lot of change in RPMs when light is on or when it's in Drive gear. I've replaced the IAC valve because I thought this might be a problem, but it hasn't made any difference other than helped with idle speed. Dealer says it might be the tranny solonoids?? note sure but what does that really mean? It's still shifting but as I said it helps to start it in Low gear and move up to Drive. It's an automatic w/ 201,000 miles on it and oil and tranny fluid have been changed regularly. Not sure what else might be going on. Any solutions? thx.
O/D = overdrive if i remember right are the vacuum lines connected and not dry-rotted and the fluid levels are correct ...they may very well be right ...as far as the blinking it is a code and many places such as midas will do a readout for free or simply count the blinks and its usually 1 blink or 2 followed by a series of another blinks also it may give you more than one set of codes write them down and look them up on your computer
