Every automatic transmission has a converter (except really early 50's chrysler clutch flites)
And yours does have lockup feature (fourth gear)
Likely it has failed.

Sorry you didn't understand...You do have a converter and from what you outlined, it has failed. ( converter is a sealed unit, that is either good or bad...when bad it needs to be replaced) Resolution will come when you either bring it to a shop and have it changed or when you take the transmission out yourself and replace it.

Try using the key-less entry to disarm the security. then I think I would get out the test light and look at the A.S.D. (auto shut down) relay in the fuse box under the hood. Verify it is not ignition switch. This relay gives the injectors, coil, and other things power.

Check you transmission fluid. It sounds like a Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid problem though.

Also there was a Tech Support Bulletin related to the Torque Converter listed. Make sure you have taken your vehicle in to get it taken care of.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION NO. C01 3/8" TORQUE CONVERTER DRAIN BACK VALVE

If you have changed all of these parts, being that they are electronic you need to disconnect the negative battery cable for approximately 30 minutes to allow the computer to reset itself and clear any codes that might be in the system. 93 grand cherokee 5.2 all time 4wd wont stay runing when put in gear

It sounds like the torque converter is locked up. Possible a bad torque converter or converter solenoid. First thing you should try is unplugging the solenoid plug on the transmission. Drivers side, near the shifter. Not the three pin connector near the pan on the same side. The connector you want is higher than the reverse light plug.
