Its because the circuit behind the mute button is getting short.so when the circuit gets short the mute button comes ON and because of the short in the circuit the radio turns off.this happens many times.to solve this the internal circuit of the radio needs to be checked and resoldered where the short is occured.that particular place where the short is occured will look bit burned on the circuit board. -------------------- another reason check the fuse located in the fuse box under your left side knee area when sitting in the driver seat.if the radio fuse in the fuse box getting weak this hapopens.also check the radio connections. --------- there is no reset procedure for this radio but unhooking the battery then waiting for 5 minutes then again connecting the battery resets the battery.check out that also, ---------- thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

Buzzing sound from the dash-board, radio will not prompt security code to play.

Replace radio. radio itself is probably shorted out or some of the capacitors have gone bad

Mute Button ON

The phone button is what does the muting.
If you feel that is not the problem I would suggest contacting the jaguar dealership in your area.

Radio wiring

Sounds like you have been misled as radios do not interfere with any other system in the car.Are you saying Tel mute because of phone hooked into it and muting or its just stopped putting out sound?A car radio is relatively easy to remove and check without unplugging.Pull radio out enough to check that all the plugs are plugged in and check wether an amplifier has been installed as its usualy an amp that stops the output of sound. If no amp fitted you will need to determine if you are getting a signal out from the speaker wires at the stereo plug, use spare speaker and test all the speaker output wires and if no power you may need to get it repaired/replaced.Not sure with your year/model but some radios do have a mute facility built in so check every function on your stereo very carefully .
