Hi,
You do have a vacuum line on the brake booster (power assist). When you step on the pedal do you hear a whoosing sound down by your pedal. This is a leaking Booster. Needs replacement.
When you step on the brake does the engine rpm change. This is a leaking check valve (one way air valve).

Thanks
Smith.

2005 gmc canyon loses power when putting on the breaks, lights dim and heater fades in and out

I have an 05 canyon. It was running rough and losing power at stop lights. I got the throttle body cleaned and it runs great now. Try that its an inexpensive fix. It needs to be done about every 25,000 miles.

Did you change the plugs in it, In That old of a truck depending on the miles on ot , If i had it i would be putting on a new cap and rotor, Not trying to clean it up, Allso it could be the control mudle breaking down, If it was never change, There could be a problem with the fuel (Injecters) Or throtle body.

I have a 1993 Blazer S10 4.3 vortex. runs pretty rough once warm and also the brakes will get exstreamly hard to push at times.

check for vavume leaks or cracked vacuumed line or fitting
power booster may also be bad not holding vacumed
for power breaks
best way to check with oxygen bottle very little pressure and
folow suspected area rpm will incress when leak is found
also propane torvh will work but be carfull both are flamable

05 jetta 2.5, what are some problems you get if the timing belt is bad

If it is bad? I don't think it go's bad. It will break then it wont start. When you try to start it the engine turns over very fast. If it jumps a tooth on timing then it will spit and sputter. Backfiring either in the throttle body or exaust. Or both.

Non-functioning power brakes and rough running engine

You have an air leak from the brake servo.Block the hose at the servo and see does it run better,if it does then its the servo. Also check the vaccuum hoses off the main servo hose. You have no vaccuum in your servo and thats why the brakes are solid.
