My airbag light is on because of my passenger seat sensor. Can it be turned off by a bypass switch or cap?
The dealer wants to replace the entire seat. I would just like the light to go off and not put a child seat in the front anymore. Any suggestions?

- I do not want to take chances with the passenger lives. The feature for a child seat is what I want removed. I will only have adults in the front seat. This means that the passenger airbag will never be deactivated, due to child seat protection. Again I ask any suggestions, as these seat devices have been made for other BMW cars with the same situation.

I have the same issue, the dealer told me they can just change the sensor. However, he also told me the sensor is only for the airbag, that the seatbelt will work without it. So, if you are ok not having a working airbag, and willing to just trust the s/b then there is no need to fix it.
Anyone know how to turn the light off?

My experience is that it should be fixed correctly. First find out from another dealer if the seat change is needed or just the sensor. If it is needed change the seet. This is a safety issue. Do not take short cuts on your passengers lives.
