Have you tried plugging something else into the socket to see if it works ?

do you have a cigarette lighter you can plug in to test the socket. might be your gps that isn't working. don't panic till we have ruled out the socket.

ok just to rule out one thing. does your radio work

so there isn't a misunderstanding. you just fixed the radio or the cigarette lighter problem

they often use the same fuse, so if you replaced the radio or had it out you may have inadvertently unhooked the cigarette lighter

ok if i understand correctly you did pull out the radio to change a fuse. there should be an additional fuse in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side. the socket itself may have failed. really only one way to test that and that is to see if there is power going to the wires attached to that socket. you should be able to get a replacement lighter socket at autozone. they aren't too difficult to replace if necessary.

There is an orange and a black wire at the base of the lighter where the plug is.
1- Use a multimeter or a 12 volt test light across the 2 wires and if it light the lighter should work unless the element has burnt out.
2- If you push the element in and it pops right back out the base is bad
3- If you press it in and it stays in but will not heat up the element is bad.
4- Get the original parts for replacement since the aftermarket one will cause the fuse burnt again.

How can I change the cigarette lighter fuse in Toyota Avalon 2005?

Changing the fuse in the fuse box wont solve your problem On the back of the socket that is mounted in the dash that the lighter pushes into has a inline fuse that if over heated will blow. You will have to change the lighter. Toyota wanted close to $70 for a replacement lighter for my Tacoma. I never used the cigarette lighter for cigarett but needed to charge my cell phone so I replaced it with a dash Mount 12 Volt Power Socket for $10. Good luck.

Cigarette lighter not work

Those things are not built well, the coil that heats up usually fails. You can get one at autozone etc.

Cigarette lighter not working, already change fuze for 2002 4door explore, what to check now?

use a test light on cigar lighter, put probe in center of socket and the ground on outside of cigar socket or any other good ground. if power to socket, this will tell you if the cigar socket is bad and needs replaced. if it has power and lighter does not work, then its the heating element itself thats bad, the part that heats up! good-day !

Radio won't come on.Already changed the fuse now the cigarette lighter works but still no radio. This model does have the Amp in the trunk.Should I look for a fuse there ??

I have a feeling that you check and changed the wrong fuse. The cigarette lighter is on a totally different circuit and that's why I think that, Not sure if you have a blown fuse for the radio but I can tell you that the fuse for the lighter is in the number 16 position and the radio is in the number 11 position (diagram of layout below). I hope this helps you and good luck.

First, check the fuse box your fuse is out of order
or second try your cigarette lighter in different car may be the cigarette lighter is broken

If can't find fuse box, easy way to check your cigarette lighter is try any mobile phone chargeri, is there any electricity???
If it is not change the fuse
If there is elec. change the lighter

Where is the fuse for the cigarette lighter in a 1999 toyota camry and what could be potential reasons why it doesnt work

A good thing to check to see if it's just a fuse is try your external mirrors to see if they move, they work off the same fuse as the lighter.

If it is a fuse, and if you are in Australia then the fuse box is next to the drivers right knee area, In America, then next to their left knee. There is also a fusible link built into some cigarette lighters, mine has one. When it blew, the auto electrician was able to resolder the link and get me going again until I could buy a new lighter.

Hope this helps.

Cigarette lighter not working, already changed fuse

Look in your manual for the Power Distribution Box reference in Roadside Emergencies. It should be located under the hood on the driver's side. My 2002 Explorer has two power points on the center console and the 20A fuses in the Power Distribution Box for them are number 7 and number 9. They cost $3.99 each at AutoZone. The cigar lighter fuse under the dash is unrelated.

The fuse is located in the car under the driver front panel

Cigarette lighter sockets no power

Cell phone chargers commonly blow the fuses at the power points. It seems that our charger adaptors do not match the socket properly, and the positive part of the charger hits the negative of the socket, resulting in a blown fuse. If you have a charger, and it works, leave it in the socket. Don't take it with you. Repeated insertions of the adaptor to the socket magnifies this issue.
