I have an 89 GMC Suburban 4x4 auto with a 350. It starts intermittently. I have replace or tested the following items and I am still having problems ignition switch replaced neutral safety switch replaced battery replaced alternator tested good starter tested good I am at a loss. I have power to all electrical item in the vehicle and light work but no power to start the engine. It doesn't even make a sound, no clicking, nothing. Also I can't shift the vehicle into anything other than park and reverse.

Im no expert but may have experienced an almost the same issue that you have.

with all the items you have replaced, you may want to check on the starter solenoid and the ignition switch itself.

hopefully this will give you a new idea at to what the issue is.

The voltage regulator is built into the Alternator. Take out the Alternator and have it
tested at your local Auto Parts store (they all do it free). This will tell you if the Alternator
is your problem or if you need to check elsewhere.

Trouble starting, after starting runs great. starts up great all day. till next day, same thing all over again. 1995 gmc suburban slt 2500 5.7l 350 4x4.

What do you mean by trouble starting. Do you mean extended cranking time for the first start? If that is what you mean, than you may have a bad fuel pump check valve in the tank. The fuel in the fuel line drains back and requires an extended crank time to push the fuel back up to the injector rail for a start.

You will need a pittman arm puller and a tie rod puller to remove this item. Some shops such as NAPA & Auto Zone rent these tools

I have a 91 suburban and it wont hold idle. I am waiting for and egr valve. if that fixes it i will let you know. I was told that they can have an internal vacuum leak therefore being difficult to detect.
