The vacuum hose will be laying down in the back of the engine Im certain this is your problem. it is black small in diameter and has a rubber elbow shape at the end.

1997 Ford F150 Air Management Problem. When Fan turned on it only blows to defrost no matter what I set it to AC, MAX AC, PANEL or FLOOR. Visually inspected vacuum line behind battery looks ok. What...

The air flow is controlled by vacum. I would start by inspecting all the hard plastic vacum lines under the hood. If you find none broken or loose , then inspect the control panel. by "default" the air is derected to the defrost position.

I have a 87 ford mustang 2.3 . The air conditioner will stop blowing from normal vents and blow from defroster vent. After a few minutes, it blows from the ac vents again.

There is a vacume hose going from the intake manifold to the passenger compartment. This hose has a check valve and a vacume resivore. When you steap on the gas the manifold vacume drops and the a/c goes to the default mode (defrost). The hose is small like a ball point pen's ink tube. sometimes the hose rots and leaks.

When control put on defrost a/c compresor should also come on, with defrost on look under hood and check that compr. is on, you can still control air temp from your controls, also make sure that when on defrost that air is coming out of defrost vent, if it is not could be a bad vacum hose, look under hood for vacum hose going into fire wall that it's connected and that it has vacum, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

'06 Silverado 4.8L Air Vents selector does not open and close any vents anymore. Stuck in the Defrost/Feet position.

Look for vacum hose under hook going into fire wall, check for vacum if none add vacum or look for vacum hose hanging some where and reconnect.

A/C problems with blower and position selector

sounds like it is vacume operated check to see if all vacume hoses are connected to the control switches and vent controls. i suspect somebody has caused a hose to disconnect tampering under the dash

The A/C works (blows cold air), but only blows up on the windshield, no matter whether it is set to floor, panel or bilevel

Appears to be stuck in the defrost position and sounds like a possible vacuum leak to controls. Look on the firewall under the dashboard. Maybe you can see a vacuum diafhram with a small hose disconnecedt. Look on passenger side first.
If not, Chk to see if a vacuum hose going through the firewall from the engine compartment has come loose. good luck

2003 ford expedition blowinw out the defrost all the time

It does sound like a vacuum problem. Check vacuum hoses under the hood especially to vacuum reservoir cannister. Sounds like a hose is loose or leaking.

Defrost blows cold air

Sounds like you have a plenum door that is not opening when you go into defrost mode. You will have to check all your vacuum hoses and switching valves under the dash to see which one is not working. Hope this helps.

You would be wise to check all the small rubber hoses under the hood as it would appear that you have a vacuum leak preventing the airflow door from moving to any other position. Look for cracked /cracking, split hoses or disconnected hoses and replace as necessary.

Good Luck!
