My 1997 Jeep's module , periodically flashes on and off and shows all lit squares (as opposed to letters and numbers) and or implies that 'ALL' is wrong at the same time...... i.e. doors are all open, windshield fluid is needed etc.

I would check all power and ground connections going to power distribution or fuse/relay box under the hood and at the battery first amd then if you can not find something that maybe loose or corroded I would have to say you need to find out with a scan tool if the body control module has trouble codes and is able to communicate anything.Does is effect the actual driving of the vehicle?

Quick way to reset that is to unhook the battery for a period of about 20 minutes or so. if it happens again after the reset it may be a relay that is stuck that controls that module. or rather i should say sticking as it does not do it full time.
Also if you have an anti-theft stereo make sure you know the code and how to enter it before you unhook the battery

Graphic display panel not working

when the graphic display is not working, three things might be occurring:
1. You disconected the battery for a long time, so when you finally reconnect it, the capacitors inside the graphic display module take some time to charge. After that time passes (an hour or so), the display will lit again.
2. The graphic display module is not being energized. Unplug the device and test its power supply. If there is no adecuate power or ground the device will not operate.
3. The capacitors are too old. If that is the case, just open the unit and replace the capacitors for new ones. They are cheap. just make sure the new capacitors are rated as the previous ones.

dont break the brakes..... TURNS & HAZ
many blinker, modules , internally flash with any load.
1: check all fuses first... (SOP)
2: then remove the blinker loads from the timer.

see it here
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

see WIRING, (end)
8w-51/52
chapter 8w, page 51-4 shows the switch. (complex it is)
note how brake and turns are shared, resources. (blub elements)
now 8w-52-6
see the flasher module.
see C305 pin 2, any load on that pin will cause it to flash.(inside)
that would be any switch in the combo switch stuck on.

Information center not working on 1997 jeep grand cherokee

The information center located on the overhead console gathers information from several sources. If some of those sources are not providing info then the display won't show it. When you say it is not working you need to see first if it is lit or not, or is it that some data (not all) is not showing?

Information Center in a 1997 Jeep Gr Ch Laredo

If you refer to the display that shows a diagram of the vehicle with the wheels lit. That display might have turned off due to a fuse problem. Chek the fuse. If the fuse is ok and the cabling powering the module are ok, then the module itself might be the problem. If that was the case, before thinking of purchasing a new one, disinstall the bad one, open it (8 small philips screws), replace the four capacitors it has on the back of the circuit board of the module (use soldering iron proper procedures), (each capacitor might cost 50 cents while the whole module might cost more than 100 dollars), and reassemble. That should take care of it for many years ahead.
