My cargo lamp on will not go out

The cargo lamp on won't go off on the message center even though the cargo lamp in not on and it does not matter if you press the dome override. All dome lights work fine. It's just the message center says "cargo lamp on" all the time whether it's on or not. I can't figure out how to make it go out or even why it is on. Spoke to a chevy dealer mechanic and he said it had something to do with the rear door latch. I found it has nothing to do with that. There are connectors at each latch that control the "cargo door adjar" on the indicator but that is not the problem. It's just "Cargo Lamp On" that won't go off.
Any ideas?

Your courtesy fuse is blown. Look under the hood fusebox. There should be a fuse labeled CTSY (10amp). If blown, you have a hot wire touching bare metal.

Trunk ajar light on in message center

Look for a contact switch in the trunk. Sometimes, when the trunk (or door for that matter) gets slammed, then button gets set deeper.
What's happening is door and trunk switches are "self adjusting", and a slam "Self adjusts" too far. It is hard to reset the switch without killing it. Just get another one if you find this to be your situation. Test the switch before you buy a replacment.

Cargo lamp on message stays on

Check under the hood, in the fusebox, for a fuse label ctsy (courtesy). It'll be over the driver side wheel. Replace it, if blows and, you have a wire touching bear metal somewhere. Good luck!
