You may have to use a rubber mallet to get the axle in far enough. That is what we hd to do on my son's 1999 Crown Vic.

Do u mean the axle has "play" when u grab the tire and wiggle it up and down?? if it has play, then it propbably needs an AXLE SEAL AND AXLE BEARING.you will have to carefully inspect the axle itself where the bearing rides for any gouging or damage. THIS JOB requires a decent amount of mechanical skill. 1ST you need to remove the rear end COVER and drain out the gear oil into a drain pan.2ND remove the brake caliper and rotor . 3RD spin the" ring and pinion " around until u see a 5/16 bolt that passes thru from the pass. side to the drivers side. u have to remove this bolt. u will need to "hold "the gears from turning in order to break loose this bolt. 4TH remove this bolt and slide out the large metal ""PIN" that 'divides" the rear end in half. NOW CAREFULLY WITHOUT TURNING THE REAR END SPIDER GEARS,PUSH IN THE AXLE TOWARDS THE INSIDE SO U CAN REMOVE THE "C-CLIP" AT INNER END OF AXLE. now u can slide out axle and youll be able to replace seal and if needed axle bearing. let me know if u need more info.

My 93 crown victory Lx is leaking fluid from the back end of the motor and the front end of the transmission what is and how I fix it step by step

If its dark color it is likely rear main seal on engine. If it is red color it is front seal on transmission. check fluid levels, overfilling engine oil or transmission fluid can cause this also. both require major removal of tyranny etc. If you never done this get qualified help. .

Rear axel leaking ford 1997 f 250

If it's leaking then it needs a gasket put on or RTV GASKET MAKER put on the cover or it's just simply cracked some how if it's the cover then take a drop pan drain the remaining fluid and clean both surfaces very good possibly spotless then apply the RTV high torque grey sealant gasket maker very thick around the edge and center where the bolts are and re apply the cover but make sure it lines up and is very clean inside also if it's a slip posi rear end you will need a bottle of friction conditioner and 3 1/2 bottles of motor craft differentail fluid as recommended by ford and remove the filler plug after the RTV is dry and refill the rear axel and if it remains to leak either you sealed the cover wrong or bad plug otherwise the axel is cracked and needs to be replaced

Oil leak in driver side rear wheel well for 2005 crown vic. drips down over top of tire and puddles under it.

Hi Don:
Have you checked to see if it's brake fluid?
Is it possible that the slave cylinder is leaking and the fluid is coming ot from the brakes? I can't think of any oil source in that area.

1992 Ford Crown Victoria Oil Pan is leaking. Is this a major problem to replace? Fred

It is recommended that you lift out the engine before attempting to replace the oil pan. Once the engine is lifted you can remove the bolts, remove the pan, clean all the old gasket material.
Installation: Remove the rear main bearing cap oil seal Remove the timing cover oil seal Clean all the mating surfaces and seal grooves Install new oil pan front cover seals Install a new rear main bearing cap oil seal Install new oil pan side gaskets on the block Make sure the tabs of the front and rear seal fit properly as these are critical spots Attach the oil pan to the engine block and install the retaining bolts

I have 99 crown vic pol interceptor; the passenger side rear wheel has bumping sound when i drive; i took wheel off and saw brake fluid leaking; i cannot determine, how the bumping sound impacts with...

fluid on the pad can cause the pad to stick and then slip--this can cause noise when the pad breaks loose from the disk. fix the leak and clean everything with brake cleaner (or put in new pads)

Rear end??

No not both sides. The rear end of your car has a normal standared rear axel. it has many seals but if the ones at the wheel hubs on the outside of the axel behind the tires are leaking it would only show on one side or the other. Also most leaks in this area is due to a bad wheel bearing.

Fluid leak on inside of rear driver side tire

More than likely it's either break fluid or axel lube. Axel lube will smell really strong and if it's leaking out it will build up on the breaks and make the rear tire skid under heavy breaking. It is also very thick. Break fluid is thin and has almost no smell.
