Are the battery cables corroded or otherwise no making a good connection? Clean them with a cable end cleaning tool avail at any auto parts store for around $5.00 and try it again, I bet the that is the issue, also charge the battery and have it tested at Kragen, they do it for free.

Lost my key to 1998 oldsmobile cutlass what can i do, or how do i get another one

Can try a dealer

It may be too old to use your VIN # there,
to get new ones

Then I would guess you have to change the ignition
cylinder & take the doors apart, to change those, only
a guess

Vehicles come new with 2 or 3 keys

ALWAYS-- have 1 or 2 more made & programmed
to the vehicle

How can I get an ignition key replacement for a 1991 cutlass supreme

You can either call a locksmith. Or go to the dealership and take the VIN number. They can cut you a key. Any GM dealership will have the key code.

Need to remove ignition 1998 cutlass olds....ignition on dash...not on steering wheel

you will need to pop out the lighted ring around the switch, remove the radio and uder dash panels on the driver side near the ignition, this should give you enough room to change the lock which is held in with 2 10mm polts, you will need to program the car to the key after the lock is changed.

I have lost the key to my 1998 oldsmobile cutless. I am trying to find out how to hot wire or any other way to get the car started.

You have 2 options. The first is to talk to a GM dealer. You can give them the info they need and they can usually make a key for you.
The other option is to replace the ignition tumbler with a new one, and new keys.
Without the ignition key you can not unlock the steering lock.
You would have to pull the ignition lock, and then find the starter relay to actually start the car.
Please let me know how it goes.

Ignition switch

  1. If equipped, disable the SIR system as outlined in . Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the ignition switch trim ring (bezel) by gently prying it out from the lock cylinder with a small suitable prytool.
  3. Remove the trim plate by gently prying around the edges with a small suitable prytool.
  4. Remove the tilt lever (if equipped) by pulling it firmly out from the steering column
  5. Snap off the upper steering column cover by gently prying between it and the bottom cover.
  6. Remove the lower steering column cover screws and lower the steering column cover.
  7. If necessary, remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate.
  8. Remove the two ignition switch bolts.
  9. Detach the two electrical connectors.
  10. Disconnect the ignition lock cable from the ignition switch.
  11. Remove the ignition switch from the vehicle.
To install:
  1. Insert the key into the ignition switch cylinder and rotate it into the RUN position.
  2. Press the cylinder release plunger located at the four o'clock position on the ignition switch.
  3. Use the key in order to pull the cylinder from the ignition switch.
  4. Assemble the cylinder into the ignition switch.
  5. Verify the engagement and operation of the cylinder using the key.
  6. The remainder of installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  7. Good luck...
