Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

When AAA came out yesterday and replaced my battery, the service guy had me sign a disclaimer which had something to do with "electronic memory." Meanwhile, several interior issues: the overhead temp gauge doesn't register properly, the interior light doesn't go on when I open the door, but does when I shut off the engine. The alarm goes off at odd times when no enry is being attempted.

The electronic memory relates to radio and drivability accumulated adjustments by the computer, not the types of issues that you list with meanwhile area... Look for grounding issues. Why was the battery replaced, was it a cause or a victum?

Many people have trouble starting the mini. Once my girlfriend almost missed her flight because she couldn't get the rental started.

That being said, here are some easy fixes:
1. Make sure your foot is on the break when you try to start it. The car won't start without foot on the break.

2. Replace your battery: batteries don't work well in cold weather, old batteries work worse. Try jump staring your car, and/or call AAA or someone to come replace your battery. They are pretty cheap, and the toe truck guy will replace if for you.

3. Other than that, ask a pro?

My 2008 Prius had intermittent problems of not starting, I should have taken this as a sign that the starting battery was failing. Your starting battery needs to be replaced. Either have AAA send the battery truck out and change it for you, go to the dealer or do it yourself. I would recommend a gel battery, as they will last longer. Search on the internet for instructions on how to replace the prius battery. Please google this "1NZ-FXE Charging" and the link will come up regarding how to change the battery. You will also have to refer to your instruction manual for Initialization procedures to reset the battery. Hope this helps.

My 2006 toyota solara wont start

If nothing (radio, lights, etc) is turning on when you try and start the car, then your battery is completely dead. Even if other electronic components are turning on, the battery still may be so weak that a jump start just won't do; it will have to be replaced.

Other possibilities include faulty components in the ignition system (ignition coil, distributor, etc). If something is wrong with this system, the car might not be able to transfer enough power to the spark plug to start the engine.

Bottom line: your car needs to be looked at by a professional. If you have AAA (and if you don't have it, get it), they will come and do a free battery test and can do an on-site replacement of the battery (if appropriate). Otherwise, they (or another company) can provide towing services to take your car to your preferred mechanic.

Sound like your car is going into limp mode. turn if off and it should fix itself till next time.
Not sure what you did or didn't do but check your owners manual for the symbol and it might help.
