These vehicles have a history of abs modules goin bad,the test for them is complex and u will need a lab scope to test it to see if the module is capable of pullin a good ground,i would suggest takin it to a reputable shop with the correct equipment if u do not have access to a scope,if u do let me know and i will find the procedure for u in my paperwork that i have at home

I had a wheel alignment and now my ABS light come on and goes off after a period of time.

There is a ABS Sensor on the wheel hub if they damaged it or moved it your light will come on, also check for a recall some if not all of the blazers & jimmys have abs issues back in the 90s.

Where is the abs sensor on a 1998 chevy venture

there are four ABS sensors. one behind each wheel in the hub assmebly just follow the shielded wiring harness down to the sensor, it is at the behind the brake rotor in the hub assmebly, the lock up problem is not the sensor, the function of ABS is to stop lock up of the wheel, this problem is caused by a leaking ABS hydraulic control unit, that is the part with all the brake lines coming out of it

Replaced front brakes ABS light comes on and

The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.

I have a 1998 pontiac transport and the ABS light just went on. The brakes feel perfectly fine. What is this light for?

It's possible it's the ABS brake sensor is faulty. The sensor attaches to the brake caliper. The only way to verify if the ABS is functioning is to test them in a skidding situation which is unsafe. Normal braking would not give any indication if the ABS is functioning. You shouldn't automatically assume they are functioning and should get the car checked out at a shop that features free checks. Best of luck.

Abs lights keep coming on? 2006 Monte Carlo. 44,000 miles. Started car this morning, antilock brake yellow light and ABS yellow light both came on. No change in braking performance I can feel. Is it under...

yes it would be under warenty go to the dealer and have them look at it if you need help after that contact me for more help. It could get expensive to fix yourself and it takes special tools to work on abs, it could be as simple as a bad wheel sensor and has to be fixed and the light reset, the dealer has a computer to test and fix it and it would be no cost to you, the only thing they would not cover is if the brakes needed replaced but the ABS would be covered, and hurry time is short for Gm.

ABS fuses (#7, 16, 41) missing from 2001 Passat.

most likely Steve is correct about the sensors, they are the most common problem, if you tinker with cars yourself you can try them at home first. jack up one corner at a time ...the sensors just push in to a copper shim in the hub. move back and forth a few times with pliers and they will come right out. look over the wires to be sure there is no damage < chunks of ice and froxen snow are know to cause broken wires> if wires look ok spray clean the reluctor wheel on c/v joint and the sensor itself. if you see metal fuzz looking stuff on the sensor ,that is junk from your brakes and needs cleaned off. the metal dust causes the trigger in sensor to malfunction. do all 4 corners one at a time then drive the car if abs light and flashing brake light go out your fixed but still should have codes cleared to make sure there is no there problems. if this doesn't fix it best bet is to have a dealer you trust to look it over , brakes are important. once abs light is out see if you pass your inspection, if not ask why then post on here what they tell you and we'll address that . good luck.

'98 Windstar ABS and traction control lights after getting brakes done

Prior to the brakes being replaced you more than likely had metal to metal contact which can throw metal shavings on the ABS wheel sensors. This metal shavings stick to the road grime on the wheel sensors showing the ABS computer a false reading making the ABS light come on. On Ford Windstars, the ABS light and the traction control light are on the same circuit. A simple (and cheap) fix is to pull the ABS wheel sensors and clean them with brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner. Make sure you dry them well and reinstall. On the Windstar there is one bold holding the sensors to the back of the wheels. I recommend you spray some WD40 on the bold and wait about 10 minutes before removing.
If this doesn't fix the ABS light and brakes, you can have the ABS system diagnosed at a shop for about an hour labor. (Usally about $100)
I have fixed many of these type of problems just by cleaning the ABS wheel sensors. Good luck.

Abs light

not really a solution but some advice...I had the same problem with mine and eventually started to hear a wierd noise and isolated it to the rear hub assembly that was becoming loose. The ABS light is still on and may have nothing to do with the problem i had but take a look for the ABS sensors are within the assemblies
