Replace the distirbutor

Disconnect the battery. take cap off but leave wires intact. Check position of rotor for reinstalling. Loosten bolt under distributor and take out. Lift didtributor and turn rotor counterclockwise to remove dist. Make sure you put back in same identical spot.or vehicle will not run. Mark spot on motor where rotor is if you can't remember. You have to turn rotor counterclockwise to have dist. fall back into same spot. Will be tough to get out at first. Don't spray with penetrating oil. Just pull up and turn.

How to do a oil change

Pull the drain plug, change the oil filter, replace the drain plug. Add oil until the dipstick reads full. Start the engine and make sure the oil light goes out. Check for leaks around the oil filter with the car running. Recheck the oil level, add as necessary. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

Im tring to remove my oil fill cap, when i turn it couterclock wise it just clicks is there a way i can remove it

Try pushing down on the cap. Sometimes when downward pressure is applied to these oil fill caps, they will catch and then they can be removed. Once you do remove the cap, be sure to replace it.

Good Luck!

I can't put back on the distributor cap on tight. I am replacing the spark plug wires and the distributor cap wont stay on tight enough. It is loose.

Inspection of the cap may find that the places that catch the holders are chipped off the cay and that a new cap is needed. If the cay is new it is likly the wrong one as two brands of distrubuters were used and you may have been sold the other one

Wont start in wet weather

the coil pack is a series of coils if he replaced the pack then all the coils were replaced. now the question is were they new or were they a junk yard part. try replacing the rotor under the distributer cap.

My `93 subaru legacy 2.2 turns over but won`t start

Could be as simple as a new rotor and distributer cap. As the rotor and contacts inside the cap wear, it will take more and more revolutions to get it to catch.

Car wont start

Check the ignition system for spark at the plugs. I had a similar problem a few years back with mine. Engine died while I was driving along on the interstate. Turned out that the spring pin holding the bevel gear to the bottom of the didtributor shaft had broken in three pieces. Installed a new pin, installed the distributor with the #1 cylinder at TDC, and it fired right up.
