What should i look at first. i have 57 pounds offuel pressure but it wont start.have replaced fuel pump, filter.someone said to check the spider first .any help?

The spider is the injector system. They are not cheap and they are a pain to change. Have to take the intake manifold apart.

97 s10 4.3 vortec..flooding when engine is hot. Went from 24 mpg to 13. Changed fuel pressure regulator. egr valve.Plugs, wires, cap and rotor button. Fuel pressure stays between 55 and 61 at all speeds,...

The fact the fuel pressure does not hold after the pump stops is a big problem indicating a fuel leak into the upper manifold, which would cause the flooding. This leak could have several causes, but since the problem is still there after replacing the regulator, it sounds like the problem is with the injector in the spider assembly.
It sounds like you have a design 1 spider assembly, with only one fuel injector distributing fuel to the six poppets. If that is the case, I suggest you try replacing the entire assembly (which will include a new regulator) with the Delco design 2 version which has injectors on each poppet.

I have a 1997 GMC Jimmy with a 4.3L Vortec V6. It will turn over but won't start. It's getting fire and fuel. All the dash lights come on when the ignition is turned on and you can hear the fuel...

On the vortec engines they require 56 pounds of fuel pressure to start a few pounds shy of that you have a dead vortec you will need a fuel pressure guage to verify

The truck needs starting fluid to start, but once it starts it keeps running. I can hear the fuel pump while starting what else can it be?

Even though the fuel pump may be running, if it's a 4.3 Vortec, a pound or two of pressure can make starting it a problem. I'd check the fuel pressure to rule out the pump. If the pressure checks out okay, then I would lean towards the spider injector as the culprit. I hope that helps. Please rate any answers you may receive and leave a testimonial. FUEL SYSTEM SHUTTING DOWN, RELAY KICKS IN AND OUT,REPLACED FUEL PUMP,ECM,DISTRIBUTION BLOCK,MULTIFUNCTION MODULE, CHECKED ALL THE GROUNDS I CAN FIND

check your wiring from relay to fuel pump commector. possible cause is 2wires rubbing together causing the relay to kick in and out. if your wiring checks out ok then the problem will be in the fuel pump trying to short out. use ohm meter and test light to check wiring and pump.

My 1996 s10 blazer wont start it has new fuel pump and has spark. I changed the spider but still wont start

Like Kristisamp Said check the Fuel pump relays, they are little black box shaped fuses in the glove box, there are 3 of them, I think there may be a cover over them so you can see it......
Take the cover off and there you go......
I have a 96 blazer 2 door that had the same problem, I repalced thes relays and Bam!!! fired right up........

Starts then quits

Was there fuel pressure before you changed everything? It could also be the pressure regulator sticking or bad. When you crank it over and let off the key you should hear the fuel pump run for a couple seconds and then shut off. If it is doing that then I would be looking to see if you have likes hooked up wrong at the back of the engine or try replacing the pressure regulator.

Try the ignition control module located under the distributor cap $30 - $60. This is one of two parts on this truck that will cause it to not run or shut down after running for only a short time. The other is the fuel pump I think it is safe to rule that out as your problem
