After charging my dead battery the Viper cranks and run for 3seconds and stops. Sounds like the fuel distribution is shut down.

Check the relay box for fuel pump. A malfunctioning relay could cause this.when you turn the key on and listen right after turning key to on can you hear the fuel pump? the relay for fuel pump should be exact same number and all on top if it as several other in the relay box.switch relay with another.try that and listen for fuel pump. check your fuses. I hope this helps you.

Hi,

Distribution refers to power distributed to spark plugs. You can check if there is spark unplugging the spark wires one at the time.

The fuel circulation can be tested placing a gauge like this on hoses connected to fuel pump: Fuel Tester.

Either than that you can scan the car computer with a tool like this: Autel MaxiScan MS300 CAN OBD-II Code Reader.

The series of test descripted above will tell you what the problem may be.

The tool will pull error codes that can tell you where the problem is.

I dont think so ,if battery went flat then their is a good chance that the factory immobiliser has cut in ,then it will be like a renault when you dont flick the key fob ,it starts and gives a quick rev and dies .So before you spend money on calling out a mobile mechanic or a local garage i would have it towed straight to the dealers and get them to reset it .Their is no magic RELAY or a quick fix with a bit of wire because you will damage the ECU ,Whats happening is the ECU cuts out the earth return to the fuel and spark ,so you will read a feed but?? 2 secs and it stops when you start it .Please dont shoot the harbringer of bad news ,,but here in spain this is about 120 euros to have it reset so by the time you pay a call out and then this and that ?? only to end up back in the dealers and to have more things put right that have been caused by so called mechanics ,a good mechanic will tell you this in the first instance

2007 rav 4.Battery light came on, drove 20 miles on hwy. stopped, shut car off.started car with a very slow crank. Power steering was gone, all warning lights came on barely made it home. now dead.

Used your battery up just getting home. Now recharge the battery, and test the charging system- could be a bad alternator not charging the battery.

Normally, the alternator powers all the car's electrical needs when the engine is running. If the alternator fails, the battery will then be used to run the electrical needs until the battery is depleted, then the car will shut down. Dead, just like yours. No big deal, just find out why the charging system stopped.

My 2003 nisan bluebird had a faulty selenoid switch which was replaced . The engine cranked and run for a while. Now the engine refuses to crank and would sometimes crank and run only after some heavy

no crank
did you first try a live hot jumper cable crank? off a live donor car.
AAA Tow style.?
USING REAL JUMPER CABLES, not china tin foil?l
that be first. ok it always cranks , that means the battery is dead, not charged,or the alternator is shut down or you have phantom drains.

if the battery known good, and charged
we can hotwire the starter, if that works the starter is good.
if not bad.
if it hot wires ok that means the key line is dead.

this is how this is done,
if key line dead, wiggle that silly slushpump shifter lever or try cranking in neuTRAL.
OR HIT STARTER CASING WITH HAMMER 3 TIMES(3 FOR LUCK) CRANK NOW.?

THIS WORKS ON ALL AT CARS.

MY CAR: (X3)
m/t CAN PUSH START, IT , AND GRAVITY START IT.
AND SHORT THE CLUTCH SWITCH TO FIX BAD KEY LINE;.

If all this ok the ignition switch can be bad, or bad power distribution can not teach in 1min.

is the alternator charging ok is the first thing to check when you've got the engine running if thats ok i'd disconnect the Viper remote as from your description it could be draining the battery/not working properly put back to original factory spec and run like that for a while then you'll know if its the Viper or not keep me updated

Hold on!!! 3 elements, power/spark/fire, fuel, air. If the car cranks, there is power, if it wont ignite it's usually the fuel system, did you check your fuel level? If you smell gas and its cranking then theres an air problem but thats rare. And people, if you have a car sit for a month or so, yes you may end up with a drained battery as some cars have alarm systems built in. or like my 79 vette a phantom power leach. And please jump your vehicles properly, first leave jumping car running, connect red/+ to good battery then Red+ to bad car then neg black- to bad car battery terminal then black to frame of good car. never hook up cars while jumper car is not running as the drain is immediate and you may end up with 2 dead batteries. and just because you start dead car doesnt mean the battery is charged for the next start up, you have to charge it with alternator by driving at least a good hour. if your battery is good then go to fuel system...start with the tank hole...is there gas, next is pump, then filter then carb or injection but fuel regulators and hoses are there too. good luck

Low voltage

does it crank fast, at 250 spec RPM?
no year, no joy, all cars have a year,
and and engine option (displacement size???)
my wild guess, is it wont crank or cranks dead slow.
right?
and the battery is DISCHARGED. right,
use jumper start cables. start now?
that be first.

wont crank
cranks perfectly but wont start ?(check for spark, x number of cyl)
spark good, try test fuel
test fuel works for 3seconds and stalls,. then fueling problem , ask.

I turn my car on then it turns off within seconds what could it be

fuel or altenator. what i would do is take out the battery, go to an auto part store and have them test it(should be free) If the battery is dead, get it charged or buy a new one( i would charge the old one). Hook the battery back up. As soon as you get it running, pull both positive and negative terminals off. DONT LET THEM TOUCH. If the car shuts right down, u can pretty much be sure the alternator is bad> The reason, instead of the car taking the charge from the battery and using the alternator to distribute it, it is using the battery to keep the car going. Using that much juice from the battery will drain it out in minutes. If the battery is ok, it might be fuel related. Check the fuel rail under the hood.

sounds like the crankshaft position sensor may be failing, this is not a charging system problem, if it where it would run fine until the battery was run dead and then u would have nothing, no crank no lights nothing, I had this same problem in my 91 Buick Rivera, it has the same engine and electronics. did almost exactly what yours is doing, crankshaft sensor fixed it, and $200 of course.
