Lifter noise

Wrong oil. Check the engine temp and thermo. Make sure oil is compatible with service. eg. your driving style and the weather. Castrol is pretty good oil. I used it in air cooled motocycle engine to solve shifting problem in hot weather. All lifters do not get the same cooling. That one is prob running a bit warm. good luck with that.

Loud clacking sound on 2003 mazda 6. possible axle? happened after oil change. sounds like something is loose.

This noise can be caused by a defective outboard (wheel end) front axle constant velocity joint (known as a "CV" Joint). This would be louder on turns, more noticeable at lower speeds and sharp turns. Next it could be valve train noise, this would come from the top of the engine and this could be related to the oil change if a piece of dirt got into the oil supply to the hydraulic camshaft followers. At this point you need a professional to listen to the noise to determine the exact cause.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant Have a screaming noise when start engine which stops once the engine is warm. Fan belt sound but which one? We are also having longstanding heat/cooling issues. Cooling/heat...

To adjust your alternator belt . First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp. Facing the back of the car , reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change or adjust the belt.
To take off or adjust the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the adjuster pulley (right side ,belt is on the left) . With the adjuster pulley loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley forward and backward to adjust the steering pump belt tension
Your hot /cool issue is tied to an electric motor under the dash that turns the flow of anti freeze on and off to the heater core. It's located under the dash to the left of the glove box. If you unhook the top of the glove box (push it to one side and gently pull it down) you should see it to the left of the blower motor housing. Some disassembly required. The part will cost about $120 to $180. part number is #MR958603. I saved money by purchasing it on line. It is a stocking part at most Mitsubishi dealers. Once you pull the glove box out and remove the bottom half of the dash all the way across, you should be able to gain access to the motor to replace it. Yes, you can do this yourself and it does help to have small hands. Caution: if you do not put everything back in correctly and tie/tape it all back down carefully in the correct places you will have lots of under the dash noises when you are done. At this time you may find the loose part that is banging/clacking under the dash. If you open the dash and see the valve opening and closing properly when you turn the temperature dial then you may want to just look to see if a simple cable or hose is unhooked.
