Security code can only be obtained from a VWdealer. You will need the serial number, found on the casing of the radio,eg:VWZ4Z........ and the dealer should supply you with the code.

I hooked jumper cables up backwerds on my 95 vw jetta and killed all my electronics. is ther a safty fuse fore that or did i fry my computer brain?

Hi. I have found that the procedure fries the Gateway and the radio. The gateway will stop everything working. There is a 200 amp fuse on the front of the fuse box in the engine compartment. See if this has blown and replace this first though. It may have saved you.

99 jetta radio doesn't work

This seems to be a common problem with this series of radio. If you open the drivers door and pop the fuse panel cover off the side of the dash, then located fuse number 42 ( should be 25 amp). Remove the fuse, check to see if it is blown(it usually isn't) and leave it out for about 30 seconds to 1 minute and then reinstall. Hope this helps it worked on my jetta.

If there is an aftermarket radio in the car, unplug it. Sometimes those radios will interrupt the CAN signal & prevent the ECM from being accessed.

Radio on safety mode how do it turn it off

you will need the code. The code should be in the owners manual of the car itself or if you happen to have the seperate one for the radio. If you dont have the manuals some people will be lucky and have the code hidden under the carpet in the trunk either on the back of the door or where the spare tire is stored. Another option is to take the vin number and radio serial number to a VW dealer to have them look up the code for you. The radio serial number is in the most inconvenient location and will more than likely require you to remove the radio from the dash to see to the number.

Safe mode audi 1998 a6

I'm guessing you have a new radio, or at least a better one, my 99 a4 doesn't have this feature. My brothers radio does though, the radio needs a code entered for it to work, this is to prevent theft of the radio. You should have a card or something in your glove box or with your cars document that says 'security code'. Enter the code into the radio and it should go back to normal.
