Question about 2000 BMW 3 Series

No reverse 2000 bmw 323i

I have a 2000 bmw 323i and I have lost reverse in the trans. My mechanic just replaced the three selenoids in the valve body and refilled it with 237 dollars worth of bmw trans oil. After he put everything back together the car still wont grab reverse. The computer is registering that its being shifted into reverse, the R comes up on the screen and the idle jumps a little bit but feels like its in nuetral. I am trying to not rebuild due to the cost of it all and just wondering how possible it is that maybe something is just sticking in the valve body or if I should stop wasting my time and just totally rebuild the damn thing....Please help if you have any answers for me thanks!!!! Steve in NY..

I think you should speak to a transmission place local.
i think your clutch drum is faulty and yes it would need a replace.
i know transmission people will look at it for free, if its a good place they will know as must of had this type of box in before.
i get this on other makes and yes it it finished but every make of box is different.

I have a 2000 323I bmw and I'm having loss of

I rencently had the same problem. Lasted a week or two before it threw a code. Ended up just being a camshaft position sensor. Replaced sensor, now it runs like new. Just be careful with the crankcase breather hose, it's very brittle!

2000 BMW 323i (auto/tip-tronix) will not reverse... forward works

hi, did the trans selector physically not go into the reverse position, or was there a long delay after you put the car in reverse. If there was just a long delay, I would check the transmisssion fluid level and condition first. Since you did not specify your mileage, I am assuminhg you have higher mileage since it is a 2000 my. The transmission in your car was possibly subject to programming updates that addressed internal pressure lost when first putting in reverse. Since you are just first experiencing an issue, I would not wait to have it looked at.

Trans-slips

You could try the reverse fix here:
Reverse fix for Saturn TAAT
Or if it turns out your valve body is bad, here is how to swap it:
Replacing the valve body of a Saturn TAAT Transaxle

DO NOT believe bad auto mechanics that tell you they need to swap your transmission!
