Question about 2005 Jeep Wrangler

Similar problem on a 1999 wrangler

Cold or heat - only comes out the defroster no matter what fan or dial setting. I was told by a non-dealer shop that it is a problem with the electronic module and they have seen this before. To replace is an expensive proposition.

It not it is a very simple solution. The vacuum line on the intake manifold is loose or has come off. The line is on the side of the intake manifold toward the firewall reconnect the line and secure it with a zip tie. Possibly the plugs either aren't connected properly or incorrectly plugged. Recheck the plugs. Also check fuses, maybe one blew while it was being plugged. The work should have been done with the battery disconnected for that reason.

Why won't my heater shut off? I can dial the fan down to the lowest blower setting, but it won't shut off at the Off button. The temp. is therefore set at 83 degrees. The modes work i.e., floor, defrost,...

If the ventilation system is set on any setting other than off (I'm talking about the vent, heat, defroster, ac, etc) the fan motor will automatically run at low unless yo select a higher setting. To get the fan OFF, turn off the ventilation system by selecting OFF.

The blower doesn't work for heat/defrost

If you have Automatic Temperture Control then you will need a blower resistor module which could be around $100 to $200. If you have a manual temperture control then it can be just a simple $20 blower resistor.

Heater not working

First check the heat control lever from on end to the other. Now this noise really 'sounds' like a mouse has made a nest inside the heater ducts. Or the flip door near the heater fan is out of place. It wouldn't hurt to flush the heater rad. Frankster016
