How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

How do you turn on the anti theft system on a 2000 buick regal gse

The system should be armed after using the key fob to lock the car and then pushing lock one more time, horn should honk notifying you that the security system is armed.

How to reset security on 2000 buick century

If the anti-theft module does not read the right chip in the key, the engine will not crank.
That would be a problem with the chip in the key, the sensor in the lock cylinder, or the module.
If it cranks but does not start, its probably not the security system.

97 lasabre cranks good then dies like it's out of gas

This might be the anti theft security system. when this happens, look all around the dash for a light that says "security". One of the symptoms of a failed GM anti theft is....... Starts for 1-5 seconds and then stalls. If this is the case, check out this link for info on the problem and "do it yourself" solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

My daughter-in-law went to start the car, nothing happened when thekey was turned to start. I tried it, it started ok,immediately. I shut it off, tried another set of keys, first time nothing, second time...

Anti-theft light on ( car an padlock symbol ) when trying to start the vehicle with the second set of key's ? Do you know how GM anti-theft system works ? There is a transponder in the head of the key . Around the key lock cylinder is a coil of wire ,when you stick the key into the lock cylinder ,this coil of wire energizes the transponder in the key head . A module the coil of wire is hooked to reads code of the tansponder . Everything is controlled by a module , BCM - body control module , PCM -engine computer , anti-theft module . You can research all you want ,you won't be able to trouble shoot without factory or professional type scan tool , service information , checking diagnostic trouble codes . Your buick has more computer power then the space shuttle has . Serial data communication networks . Your best bet , take it to the buick dealer .

1994 buick lasabre intermitten starting problem souds like pass lock not reading key

That would most likely be a key fab problem or your passlock system which is very common on gm vehicles. You can try reprogramming the key or get a spare key and program that one. I can give you instructions if you'd like.
Another thing you can try if the anti-theft system is activated, is put key in ignition, turn to ON position for exactly 10 minutes, as soon as anti-theft light turns off, then immediately start the car.
They also sell passlock bypass systems fairly cheap.

My anti-theft system has lock my focus engine how

if the theft light is flashing fast, the PATS(passive anti-theft system) can only be reset with a ford scanner... you can try leaving the key in the on position for a little over an hour, sometimes it works.

Does it not even try? Or does it start and then stall after about 2 seconds?
