Have you checked the fan switch which should be on the radiator, maybe faulty and operating at the wrong tempreture.

If you have the heater controls set to demist the windscreen the air conditioning we automatically turned on ( the lamp on the a/c switch will not be illuminated, this will then turn on the cooling fans. Set the blowers to feet and see if the cooling fans stop.

Check the temperature sender that controls the fan . Also check the fan fuse and relay in the underwood fuse and relay box.

Possibly both. If you run out of water, the sensor may go cold and the fan won't come on. I would go for gasket and have fun as it is an absolute nightmare. Don't forget you will need new head bolts as the ones fitted are 'stretch bolts' and can only be used once.

01 freelander condenser/cooling fan donot switch off

DII thermostat works. At idle it pretty much redirects hot coolant into the water pump. Dumb system that works of coolant pressure and not temperature.bad thermostat or water pump or cloged sytem your vehicle thermostat is different then most vehicles your vehicle thinks its over heating when its not i would start by changeing the thermostat and haveing a radiator flush done ive learned something new today happy holidays god bless

2005 Land Rover Freelander aux fans staying on too

The first thing you need to note is if the temperature is normal whilst you are using the car, if it is then it is probably just a sticking thermostat and to be honest that is not a great problem, however if your car is running hot whilst driving you need to check your coolant level which can be seen in a spherical bottle at the rear (left side I think) of the engine compartment ( DO NOT OPEN THE TOP OF THIS BOTTLE UNTIL THE ENGINE IS COOL ) if the level of coolant is low top it up, also look for debris around the radiator grill and keep the air flow path open.

If everything seems ok but the fan still runs excessivly leave another thread and I will explain how to faulf find the circuit to check the thermostat.

2004 Freelander Coolant Leak

With problems like this the only sure way is to go to a workshop and get them to pressure test the cooling system, that is if you dont have a pressure tester yourself. Then it should be seen where you are losing coolant. It may leak from any where, hoses, loose clips, even the filler cap. Is there any sign of antifreeze that has dried
hope this helps
