How do you realign the cars steering wheel

this is a specialised job and requires a tracking gauge and plumb lines and lot of patience to re-align to ackermans principles .i assume that the spokes on the steering wheel are not in alignment so someone has tracked this vehicle without adjusting each arm equally resulting in this fault ,and if its not reset right then you will have 2 turns to the right and 1 and a half to the left or similar so it has to be done properly and not just the steering wheel taken off and turned a bit on the splines .

Guide on how to camber correction and wheel alignment

Take the car to an alignment shop. Aligning the wheels takes very complicated computer equipment. If you are off by even a small fraction of an inch, you will wear out the tires very quickly, and the car won't track straight.

I have a bad vibration and clicking noise when turning sharp in my 1995 grand cherokee

I had that problem and it was the track bar. this cherokee among other jeeps is known for this problem. Check all the components attached to the track bar as well as all the bolts make sure they are all tight and nothing is broken and bent. If the parts look fine it might be an alignment problem. dont go for the 4 wheel alignment all that does is cost you more get a front wheel alignment if the parts are good.

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan with automatic sliding doors. The passenger side has come off the track and I cannot get the rollers back into the right track. Can you help?

The brackets come in two pieces. One that rides in the track and one that bolts to the door. You need to undo the bolts holding the two parts together. Align the piece with the rollers back into the track and then bolt the two parts back together.

Hello , i hit a set of rail road tracks. now the track off light is on, and service enginre lite and ato lock i think its called is on , i tried to reset the comp by unhookin the battery wont reset i need...

You need to fix the problem before trying to reset the computer. You will need to pull the engine code to know what trouble it is trying to tell you and quite likely you will need a visual inspection by an alignment technician not to mention an alignment. Suspensions on cars are not meant to take real hard impacts. Hollywood has people thinking their cars can survive jumps and things like that but in reality they use numerous cars that look the same when they do stunts. In real life even bumping a curb can throw your alignment out ruining your expensive tires.

Front wheel alignment

thanks for your reply/update the reason for front tyres wearing as you describe would suggest the steering tracking is wrong and for some reason ?the tyre wear on inner isindication the track is toeing out too much ? this fault could be ? simple adjustment req'd however dependand on make of tyres has to be considered when tracking as to whether they toe in or out or straight ahead ? also front wheel drive ? there could be other factors b4 tracking is adjusted such as steering joints wear ? or damage ? also suspension ? as i mentioned best to visit a good tyre depot and let them investigate while you wait and give you a reportas to fault normally free in uk if it is simply tracking req's re adjust then they can do it and charge for the adjusting not expensive and they may also recommend switching wheels from rear to front providing tread are good ? hope this helps best wishes

Steering wheel alignment

Hi

Expect Kwik Fit have adjusted the tracking / wheel alignment at some time, and adjusted one track rod more than the other. ?

Count the threads showing ! ...I expect this will become apparent.

You need to have the tracking / alignment rechecked with track rods even lengths both sides.

Then if you road test and find the steering wheel out of alignment, remove steering wheel, and move round the correct position on the steering column splines.

Hope this is of help.

Good Luck !

John.
