Question about 2000 Cadillac DeVille

Left front tire is leaning in on top? what else can it be that would cause this but a ball joint?

    If the wheel is not making any loud noises than you should jack up that wheel under the a frame and try to wiggle the wheel at 12:00 and 6:00 if there is a lot of play than you've got a wheel bearing(most likley the inner) gone and should not drive the vehicle any further until it is repaired. If the upper ball joint is that gone you will know when you jack the "frame" near that wheel, under the front door area, and it will show it's ugly head at this point.

If your ball joints and shocks are good then you need to get the front end aligned. Repeated usage will eventually knock things out of line anyway, but worn shocks will speed the process up. so will worn ball joints.

Front passenger wheel leaning on 98 expedition


This is most likely a ball joint problem. If you can, jack that tire up in the air and see if you can move the whole tire in and out from the top. Try to see if there is movement in the ball joints while you move the tire. If that is not the problem, it could be a wheel bearing, but i would check the ball joints first. Hope this helps.

I have a knocking as i do long left hand turns from the front nearside of the car (2003 x type jag) worse if someone sat in passenger seat


There are several components that could cause noise from the front when turning. I am assuming when you say the Front nearside you are saying the fromt left wheel is where the knocking is comming from when making a left turn. The components to be concerned about are, Wheel bearings, Ball Jionts, Tie rod Ends, CV joints and brake rotors.
Wheel Barrings:
Jack the car up under the control arm until the wheel is off the ground about 3 inches. Slide a pry bar ybder the tire and place the other hand on the top of the tire. As you lift and lowere the pry bar fell for loose movement in the tire. If there is such movement you have a bad wheel bearing.
Ball Joint:
Repeat the test above and watch the upper and lower ball joints for movement. Is there is movement replace the bad ball joint.
Tie Rod ends:
With the tire still off the ground grip the tire in the front and back and rey to move it as if your were trying to turn the tire. Watch the tie rod ends for loose movement. If they are loose replace them.
CV joint:
The Joint is housed in a rubber boot. If you can feel the joint inside the boot you can turn the tire forward and back and feel for play in the joint. If you are not able to feel the play you can loosen the clamp on the boot and push the boot out of the way. Then repeat the test.
Brake Rotors. Inspect the brakes for wear and any signs of pitting or grooves in the rotors.
You need to take this seriously because if you have a Ball joint or tie rod end break while driving, it will cause a wreck.

I'm guessing the lower ball joints are shot. This will cause the tires to lean in on the top and and wear the inside of the tire. I could be wrong! Try jacking the front wheels up and support the vehicle on jack stands, now grab the tire top and bottom and try to rock it in and out. If there is movement, you will have to have someone watch to see what is moving, while you rock it. If it's the ball joints, they will need to be replaced before you can align it. This can be spendy, there's a lot of labor involved.

Align the truck, sound like the camber is out of adjustment the upper control arm is holding it out too much, or your lower ball joint is messed up and lets it tuck in. The tie rods on that truck have nothing to do with it. Ball joints are like 40 bucks each for a good one, and an alignment is like 50. Is this a 4wd truck? If you have torsion bars make sure they are not too tight, when you hit dips its gonna distort the tire to the ground.

Front tires are leaning in at the top and out at the bottom causing major tire wear


You probably need ball joints, unless you have large aftermarket tires which means you only need an alignment.
