Question about 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan
It doesnt matter if you are driving or sitting in park. it might take 5 seconds or it might 1hr, the engine will just shut off . its like shutting off a light switch, but the radio, ac, lights etc will still be working, its just the engine shutting off. there is no sputtering or hesitating for gas or anything like that. sometimes it starts right back up and sometimes it takes a couple of hours. but then its right back to doing the same. can anyone tell me what could be wrong. i have had several people look at it and no one can give me a clue.
There is three possible problems. The first one could be the ignition control module which can be tested at a parts house. The second and third are the crank sensor either mounted in the block or in the tranny bell housing on the top, or the cam sensor mounted in the base of the distributor. All three can cause this problem the more common is the ignition control module.
