Question about Ford F-350

Both fuel pump relays run hot. I have replaced both of them. The truck started and ran for about 30 minutes then quit. I replaced the relays and it ran for a few minutes and quit again.

You could have a bad fuel pump relay switch. The fuel pumpBoth fuel pump relays run - mag-glass_10x10.gif relay switch gets the fuel pump running in the vehicle during the start cycle. The terms fuel pump relay and fuel pump relay switch are used interchangeably. The fuel pump relay begins its job when the automobile operator turns to the ignition on, but before the motor is actually running. At that point, the fuel pump relay in some cars sends a signal to the ignition switch, which in turn sends a signal to the fuel pump to turn on. Others fuel pump relays have actual circuitry inside of them that receive the ignition signal and directly signal the fuel pump to engage.

Have a great day!

I think the fuses are overheating. Have you tried replacing them.

Wow, you seemed to have changed what I would have recommended to someone in your shoes.

If the fuel pump relay is hot, I think that there could be a crossed wire somewhere.

I would take it to an auto electric shop to diagnose problem if it's worth putting more money into it.

Check fuel rail pressure.

Add fuel to beyond 1/2 tank.

A weak fuel pump do not like to ran low on gas.

When was the last gas filter and fuel pump change?

90-120,000 miles is the typical change out.

Fuel pump like to quit on a HOT day.

Test the pressure and see is it within specification.

Good luck

Starts then quits

Try the ignition control module located under the distributor cap $30 - $60. This is one of two parts on this truck that will cause it to not run or shut down after running for only a short time. The other is the fuel pump I think it is safe to rule that out as your problem
