Drain the new collant into a container so you can reuse it.check the thermostat by putt ing it in a bowl of boiling water youwill see it open up if it is working correctly next it is possible that the radiator needs cleaning out----job for a radiator service centre

If there are no visable coolant leaks and you have completely flushed your engine/radiator until clean water came out and refilled your antifreeze with a 50/50 mixture then I would suggest removing your thermostat and placing it in a container of boiling water, it should open if it if works properly, if it doesn't then you know what you need to do. Let me know if this helps or if you need any further assistance

Hey Tyler,

Your posting does not indicate if you have a good clean mixture of antifreeze coolant in your heat & cool exchanger ( ie. radiator ), this valuable component of the vehicle coolant & heating system alway's need's a good supply of 50% water to 50% antifreeze which is under pressure and could hurt you or anyone standing too close to your vehice in question.

Purchase the anti-freeze in either full mixture (100%) or 50% water 50% anti-freeze just about anywhere out there with a vehicle repair isle.
Personally speaking I mix 50% water 50% anti-freeze since this is much cheaper than buying the already 50% water to 50% anti-freeze simply due to economic reasons.
After filling this radiator container, remember to alway's follow your vehicle manufacture's safety guidelines, remember there are many moving parts in the engine compartment that could hurt you or people standing around your vehicle while the engine is running.

Hope this helps!

Why would my 96' cadillac seville be overheating after i put a new radiator a new water pump a new thermostat and new fan motors in it

Someone would need to test the system and find out at what point the engine is overheating.
Is the thermostat not opening - is the coolant not flowing - or are the fans not coming on when the coolant reaches 220 degrees ?

How do i replace my thermostat on 1998 eldorado

  1. Install the thermostat.
  2. Install the thermostat housing using a new gasket.
  3. Install the thermostat housing bolts. Tighten the thermostat housing bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
  4. Connect the radiator hose.
  5. Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
  6. Refill the coolant.
  7. Start the engine.
  8. Check for leaks.

Car running hot-can i use water temporarily until i get antifeeze

Yes you can but it should be as a last resort. The scale in the water when heated will fix itself to the engine interior. Over a period of time it will accumulate and then plug the radiator. Antifreeze helps keep this from happening as well as provide freeze protection for your car.

What is the name of the liquid to put in the radiator to stop the overheating.

that would be coolant or anti freeze, but it dont over heating it helps keep the cooling system rust free and helps prevent overheating but it dont keep it from overheating,if your overheating there is a problem you need to deal with, check the water level, check the thermostat, are the fans turning on,is there signs of leaking around the water pump?

My 2005 Kia overheated. We changed the thermostat

YOU COULD HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, MOST REPAIR SHOPS CAN DO A BLOCK TEST WHICH WILL TELL YOU IF HEAD GASKET IS BAD, ALSO CHECK TAIL PIPE FOR WHITE COLOR SMOKE.

1996 Pontiac Grand Am overheating

If its the 3.1L it could be your intake manifold gasket , the material used for the gasket does not react well with GM's Dex-Cool antifreeze. The leak may not be apparent at first, but I would pressure test the cooling system. If you look at the front of the motor by the belts , try to peek down at the intake manifold and check for slight seapage to an obvious leak.

If its either of the Quad-4's they were notorious for heads warping or cracking.
