You WILL have to turn it at an angle to get it out! And the 2007 Monte Carlo is even worse. It must be the folks that design these cars don't do much work on them after the fact!!

HOW TO TAKE OUT BATTERY 2003 OLDS SIL

Remove wiper assembly plastic cover. Then remove front bolt that holds the cross brace bar over the battery. Loosen the bolt at the other end of the brace bar and rotate brace bar from over the battery to a new location and proceed to remove the plastic battery hold down mount on bottom of battery.Disconnect the negative then positive battery cables from the battery then rotate battery up and out of compartment -- this is a very tight fit. It will come out and the clearance is very small. This is a neat challenge. Be sure to buy proper size battery for replacemeent

How do I replace the battery in my 2003 monte carlo? I removed the 2 wire bolts but it feels tight to the bottem as if it is clamped in... what am i missing?

It should be similar to my Impala. There is a clamp wedge held in by one bolt. It is probably in the middle of the two wires (cables), down at the base of the battery. Remove the bolt and the plastic(?) wedge and the battery will be loose.
(On my Impala, I also have to remove the cross bar that passes over the battery.)

How do I get the battery out of a 2006 Monte Carlo. It is too tight to get it out. Do we have to remove the Fuse Box.

Hello: Yes just move the fuse box aside, remove the brace the fuse box was attached to. Remove the hold down clamp that holds the battery, turn the battery up on end and pull it (battery) out. Go back in the same way.
