Air Blend Actuator not working

1998 Ford Explorer 5.0L V8. My climate control blend door actuator is not working. I replace it with a new one and it does nothing. My parts dealer suggested I check Fuse #15 on the passenger side. My manual does not show any fuses on the passenger side, only the driver's side. Is it possible that the climate control panel is causing this problem. Please give me ideas on how to solve this proble.

Make sure you are getting plenty of vacuum to the control, if you are than it will have to be replaced.

There is a large ball under the hood most of the time on the passenger side near the firewall. It has one line going in and one out. Check for a long exhale type sound after removing the line that leaves the ball(vacuum accumulator) and goes into the firewall. If you hear that, then you'll probably end up replacing the climate control unit.

If the driver's blend door actuator has failed completely, or the wiring to it is damaged, you will not hear any clicking. Check for appropriate voltage at the blend door actuator, and determine from there if it's the actuator or the control unit.

Air blend actuator 2000 ford explorer is not working?

First, insure you do not have a vacuum leak or bad vacuum check valve. If this is all good, you may have to change actuator and every model has a different way to access this--some require dash removal. If you must do this, get a shop manual as the air bags CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!

I replaced the heat blend actuator because I was not getting any heat. Now, after replacing, all I get is hot air and no cold. The A/C was working fine just before replacing.

Do you have Manual Climate Control System or Dual Automatic Temperature Control System ?
The temperature control switch:
  • is a potentiometer that outputs a variable voltage to the temperature blend door actuator to set the position of the temperature blend door.
  • initiates closing of the heater control valve. When set to full COOL, a lever on the temperature blend door pivot shaft depresses the pintle of the heater control valve vacuum switch. The heater control valve vacuum switch then applies vacuum to the heater control valve, closing off engine coolant flow to the heater core.
  • is serviced only with the climate control assembly.
You may have disturbed something when changing the actuator , the vacuum switch o vacuum hose .

Ac is blowing out of defrosterandnot panels in the dash. Air is cool cold air will blow out of rear seat panel/vent 1998 ford explored

The most common cause is a bad blend door actuator which controls air flow throughout the cabin. When air flow only flows from 1 section (either floor, vent, or defrost) it's an indication that the blend door actuator is either stuck or broken.

Cold air comes out when i turn on my heat and i hear a clicking noise. 2004 ford explorer v8

yes, common problem. Blend door actuator is stripping it's gears. Remove actuator and make sure door rotates by hand. If not remove heater box and repair door operation. If it moves OK by hand, replace the actuator. I don't have procedures for replacing yours, but follow the sound, removing whatever panels necessary to get to it. The part looks like the below pic and sits flat on the heater box with a cable coming out of it. Cost is about $35. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Climate control will only blow cold air and the heater core is fine there is heat. when i turn the climate control to hot there is a clicking noise, when i turn it back to cold the click goes away

your blend door actuator gear is slipping. remove actuator and check blend door for free movement. If jammed, you may have to open the system to unjam. If door is free to moe, replace actuator. See procedure below to access blend door. Not sure you need a lift, as long as you can get the 2 nuts off under the truck.

Removal & Installation

  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL.
  2. Remove the left-side quarter trim panel.
  3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

(2) Auxiliary housing bolt
(3) Auxiliary housing bolt
(4) Auxiliary housing nut
(5) Auxiliary harness electrical connector
(6) Blend door actuator electrical connector

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  2. Observe the following tightening specifications:

HOT AIR ALWAYS

this problem is almost always caused by the air temperature control blend door being warped and stuck or by the electric actuator that moves it, the common issue is the blend door actuator. To replace or repair this part requires the removal of the entire dash assembly.
