Its not the egr thats bad its called a D.P.F.E. sensor or a egr pressure feed back sensor. follow the 2 rubber hose from the exhaust manifold up to the intake, its a little aluminum box with a plug and 2 hoses. the new ones are plastic and brass and last a lot longer, avail aftermarket. good luck, its easy to change

Hi I have a 99 grand marquis .and it has a rough idle and it's hessitant when I accelerate .can someone please help.

Some of these engines had a channel under the Airhorn to provide flow to the EGR. These engines had 8 small bolts to unfasten to remove the Airhorn. You clean the passages and make sure the EGR valve is decarbonned. The gasket is about $10.

Stalling 2002 mercury grand marquis

Most parts retailers can tell you what the pressure should be from the pump or what pressure the pump is rated to put out. If pressure is low from the fuel pump- replace it.

Egr flow code P0401

Check the DPFE sensor and the 2 hoses going to it. Has to be on a scanner to see the voltage the DPFE is sending.

I have a 2002 Mercury Marquis. The check engine light came on so I had it checked by a parts store. The vacum switch for the EGR showed bad. I replaced it but the light is still on. and scan shows no other...

Did you replace the entire EGR Valve?

If it works correctly, the light will go out

Codes do not tell you what to replace

They tell you the system that has a possible
failure or out of range sensor, the
PCM (computer is seeing)

Not how to diagnose that system

The engine light on our 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis came on and stayed on. When checked, a code of 34 comes on. What does this code mean?

code 34 means you are not getting any egr flow. find your egr valve and check to see if vacume hose is attached, if so follow the hose to the egr solenoid which should have that hose and a direct vac hose going to it. and an electrical connector. make sure all of these things are in place and not disconected or broken. the most likely cause is either a broken vacume hose or a clogged intake manifold.

Cant locate egr valve on a 2002 grand marquis

It's behind the back of the intake manifold in the center back, very hardto get too and even harder to see. The pressure switch is on the firewall behind the back of the engine follow the hoses ( plastic lines ) one hooks to the valve

2002 Grand Marquis DPFE and CLEN EGR Ports

First go to a independent auto shop to get a price will be much less, however it is a problem getting to some egr valves so it takes time and that costs money. The egr valve can be cleaned but you have to know how to remove it, but they most likely quoted you the price of a new DPFE and New EGR valve so that’s a little more than half the cost the rest is labor. if you want to do it yourself by a hanes manual or get a subscription on to do it your self.
