How to reset jeep grand cherokee fuel pump

which engine of the many, ??????
no start but cranks ROBUSTLY right?
turns over means zero, the starter motor and engine both can TURN OVER thus , no meaning, What counts is the crank shaft spins.
called Cranking.

1: check all fuses on both boxes.
2: Is dash I/P cluster CEL lamp glowing keyon?
3: I then connect my scan tool and crank for 5 seconds, not 4 , but 5.
3A: got DTC's (errror) for CMP , CKP or spark or dead RPM?
thats 4 checks,, got them, ? yes, BINGO.
the ECU will not INJECT fuel of those are bad. ever.
there are exceptions, but those guys get lawsuits....
4: above is ok , i check spark (some do this first. sure thats makes sense , always)
5: ok I got spark on all cylinder, NO , fix that or do step 3 again.
6: i try test fuel, I spray it in and BAM it runs for 3sec, and dies.
if it dont run, are those 100k miles spark plugs long dead???? ever do tuneups, ever?
if runs 3 sec, and sound great. then you lost fueling.
i check for flooding only if spark is good.
if you get here, the story can go long play, as fueling is complex.
( no injections, leaking , clogged, ECU inputs all wrong, fuel pump dead or weak, FPreg fubar. long..... ask.)

Will not crank . Starter and battery good. Is there a fuel pressure switch that prevent s cranking? ? 2005 jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 fuel injection. Checked fuse s and relays for starting. Not for fuel pump...

have you checked power at the starter? the large wire at the starter motor will have constant battery voltage, and the smaller wire will have power only with the key in the crank position. If both wires have power then you will need to replace the starter.

2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara won't start engine

what engine, state engine size and country.
there can only be 3 ways, to fail.
bad engine (low compresssion, us the $20 tool at WOT and see over 170psi.
Bad spark
bad fueling.
just because spark coils (COPS?) work on other car , dont mean much.
what counts is your car , its a system.
the cops, have fast 5mS pulse when firing, you using a scope to see that?
Im so curious, why not to the time old test, use a real spark plug
attached to the COP end, spark plug shell grounded to engine metal
and crank, is spark good x4? or x6 if V6 (engine NOT STATED)
is it? then spark is good, leaving fueling.
do not touch the spark plug cranking, it can hit 100,000 volts.
I use a ground strap on the spark plug casing, hands free, or you can be hurt bad, by the spark or when you jump and cut arm backing off
on cars that flood, is it flooding?
I found my engine compression good, then found all 4 sparks fire good.
so i pull the fuel pump relay. killing fueling.
i then use "test fuel" to start engine (again, text book tests)
I use the new CRC brand of test fuel with top end oiling.
i spray it in the plenum, and it starts.
if the spark plugs are bad, (part oftune it up)
it may not start if flooded,
use WOT at the throttle (cuts fuel) and start any flooded engine.
if the spark tips are black and stink of raw fuel (wet with fuel)
that means flooding.
pull the fuel pump relay ,test fuel runs for 3 seconds. each time.
3 second spray max. each time.
if that works out, then find reason for flooding if flooding.
if not flooding, you find dry sparks.
then trouble shoot no fuel.
fuel pressure not near 30 PS?
fuel pressure too high say, 60, it will flood for ever.
there are only 3 tests.
and 4 counting wet /dry sparks.
the tests done, will put you on the correct path every time.
no guessing, no swapping parts to other cars.

Will not start. can use starter fluid and will run a few seconds. doesnt sound like fuel pump working. could this just be a fuse?

check your user manuel to see if this has an electric fuel pump
if it has electric fuel pump it could be a fuse
to check if fuel pump is working, disconect a fuel line on the motor
crank engine
if fuel spurts out the pump is working
could also check to see if there is fuel filter that is clogged

94 grand cherokee new engine won't start

Also when you flood out your plugs, I have found out that you have to replace them. I don't know why but you just do. After doing all this work, you obviously know how to do this kind of thing. You need to check your fuel pressure, make sure everything is at the right psi. As a Jeep guy a have to commend you. But as my dad who taught me, go back to the big three.
1. fuel
2.. fire
3. electric

make sure its getting fuel and air, then make sure its getting fire in the plugs work your way backwards. then make sure its getting electricity to everything. Also I would check your distributor. is it off, make sure pull it and put it back in while #1 is TDC

I wish you lots of luck, I have had 4 Jeeps that I did a lot of work on, let me know where you get. Maybe you can tell me more to help after all this.

Grand cherokee 1999

1. is the engine turning over. If it is then you probably have a timing/fuel problem.

2. If all you get is a click sound and no engine turn over then flat battery could be a starting point.

3.if it starts and runs rough plugs and or plug leads may need looking at. Or maybe fuel injection system.

4.Not enough information to get more specific.

Check engine light on

You need to step back and consider the basics. The number one rule is fuel and spark, you got those you got go. This assumes that the enginer mechanical integrity is intact.

OK, Have you pulled a plug and got compression - just put your thumb over the hole and have some one crank, you'll know right a way and at least means part of the engine is OK.

Next, you replaced a bunch of electrical things, have you tried to draw a spark off a plug. A couple methods, pull a plug, ground the case, crank the engine and see if you can get a spark. This will be very evident especially at night time. Another method is to use a screw driver and pull a spark to a grounded surface in the engine. Be careful, a shock is actually shocking.

Fuel, what type system do you have, carb or fuel injection? With fuel injection you can loosen a fuel rail and see if you have pressure and fuel. Possible problems could be fuel pump and/or the pressure regulator on the end of the rail. On a carbed system, you could have a bad float or no fuel in the bowl. On check is to throw a little fuel down the carb air intake or use a small amoung of starter fluid. Does that help? Then you know if fuel is the problem.

Let me know what you find.
