Yes this is caused by the transfer case which is the heart of the 4 wheel drive system, have the fluid changed in the transfer case, drive it a few days and see if problem clears, if not the transfer case will need to be ovehauled.

Power train malfunction & ABS light on. Lot of grinding when put into drive or sometimes front end will lock up. I did replace the front hub bearings but still having the same problem, anyone kno

Can be any number of things, I will make a list of things to check. First jack up the front so the wheels are free to turn and fit safety stands. with the transmission out of gear turn each wheel by hand the should be free to turn . check for grinding noise, check the brake pads are not worn out . check the brake cylinders are not binding, check the drive shaft joints, check the brake discs, if there is air in the system you may have to take to a brake repair shop as ABS brakes are hard to bleed by hand..

2001 santa fe creaking noise when turning

1- front wheel bearing hub loose or loose axle nut
2- front shock(s)
3- ball joint(S)
4- lower control arm bushing(s)
all of these things can be checked by a professional in about 15 minutes and should be relatively painless financially

Hi Joey, I've never heard of that happening before. It must have something to do with the steering wheel lock mechanism, which is mechanical. Did you buy the vehicle new or was it a used vehicle and do you have service records. If you do, go through them and look for a job when the ignition switch was replaced and get in touch with that shop. If there is no record get the barrel, lock and switch replaced. Have the shop also inspect the steering column for wear. Do not try to drive the vehicle at all we all need you around. Book the vehicle taken into an authorised dealer and ask them to send a recovery vehicle. Regards John

1991 Lexus LS 400 ignition locked doesn't turn past ACC

First things first, if you can not turn the key lock past ACC you are not doing anything with the starter. The problem with the lock must be in the lock or the linkage connected to it.
The price for the starter may be fair depending on where it is coming from.
You have to be able to turn the key to the start position before anything happens with the starter.

I took my recently purchased 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee to a mechanic for inspection. He lifted the veh and found the driver side front wheel was locked an the other side turned freely. He said I needed brake...

A few things come to mind. First, If the vehicle is in 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive, the transfer case may be the culprit. Try slecting Neutral on the transfer case & see if things change. Second, the front wheel bearing may be siezed up. It's a fairly simple replacement of the sealed cartridge. Third, this is a long shot but I've seen cases where the front axle shaft U-joints have caused the wheel to bind up if they are rusted tight.
Also, If you drove it to the mechanic, is the wheel really locked up, or is it only when it's parked? If only when parked, my first point makes the most sense.

2006 chevy equinox lt can't get the key to turn. so the car won't start, stuck in park all-wheel drive so it won't tow or move out of the parking spot.

Turn the key while turning the wheel, either to left or right. "jiggleitalittleit'llopen" I had the same thing happen to our GMC safari, the steering wheel got locked. The wheel had turned sharply and it was jammed. I fiddled with it turning the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key, eventually it popped loose. 'WHEW!' Good Luck!
