You should buy a manual for 25.00$ but some librarys have manuals to look at in the reference sec. and some auto pasrts stores can print out the blowup, autozone.com has a good web site with pics and info for each vehicle and problem, good luck

Axle seal is leaking, but upon inspection, double check that it is ONLY the seal and not because of a bad wheel bearing or a ridge worn in the axle itself from the seal and/or bearing

Drivers side rear axle is leaking, not brake fluid, has disc brakes, what do i need to do to replace seal?

i will tell you right off this is a job for a qualified mechanic, the axle has to be pulled off first you jack up that wheel dismantle the brakes and rotor and behind the axle hub are four bolts that hold on the axle remove them and axle will come off the rear end cover does not have to come off and the axle fluid also does not have to come out,but now that axle is out you will notice that a wheel bearing is holding the seal in place this is pressed in you can buy these as a set at the dealer but must be removed by a pro. as not to harm axle and it has to be pressed back in

I have an oil leak between the drivers rear axel and the tire. What parts do I need to look into replacing?

You should be ok replacing the outer seal but check for bearing play or fautly outer wheel bearing before you disassemble. If to much lateral movement in axle shaft it will take out your new seal rather quickley.

REAR AXLE SEAL LEAKING ONTO BRAKE SHOES NEED INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIX

Jack up vehicle and support on stands. Remove wheels. Remove differential cover . Locate and remove lock pin that holds cross shaft in. Slide cross shaft out. Push axle inward to release axle c clip. Remove axle and pry out old seal. Install new seal with proper tool.Add some lube to the seal lip to aid axle intallation. Revese removal procedure. This is for a "c" type axle.
Another type has 4 nuts attaching a retainer plate to the backing plate behind the axle flange. In this case the 4 nuts are removed and the axle will come out. This may require a little effort. I think that you have a "c" type axle in your vehicle. Hope this helps. Moe

Various Issues - Hub, Brakes, Sway Bar Etc. Etc.

you need to get another estimate from an honest private shop. These #s sound very high. I have never seen even a mercedes therm cost $198...is it the gold & platinum one you can wear as jewlery after you are done with it in the car? If I have time later, I'm going to look up parts prices and post them. Also if front axle seals are warranty, why not rears?
