Question about 2003 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

I have a mazda 2003 protege 5, the air conditioner seems to be coming on when the airconditioner is turned off. Cold air is blowing out, and I can hear the compressor cycling. Last time I had it in for service I asked them to look at it, they said they found no problem. Is it normal for the AC to run sometimes when it is not turned on? Thanks

    I own this Model car.
If you run defroster or floor heat the a/c will run...turned off or not.It does this to keep the windows from fogging up.You will also notice that if you have the recirculate button on, that it will also change it to fresh air instead when you do this. It's been a good car...but I could have done without the lack of this choice. If you want to run heat in the upper vents, you get some cold feet in the winter.

Air conditioner most of the time blows hot air, espesially after car is hot. Also the RPM of the car dont go up when airconditioner on

keep all the doors of car open for 4/5 minutes before you start driving ,
this avoids hot air blown when ac started.

Also AC runs on battery & compressor takes heavy current while starting & running to ,this causes RPM to go down.
Also check with local automaker for battery capacity remaining.

2000 Mazda Protege LX AC starts cold, blows "vapor", then warms

Sure take your buddy with you when you go so he can drive you away while they fix it but you do the talking with your buddy standing by ready to leave. Yes low on freon condensate drain stopped up fan belt loose or needes replaced. This is an old car and the mechanics will likly find many things wrong with it make sure they know that you what them to run it awile after it's fixed so that it in with some gas in the tank so they won't worry about running out. Should get alot of repairs done for less than $200

2002 Nissan Maxima SE - Air condition not blowing cold air

simply "adding a can"is a good way to end up with non-functional A/C. the typical system has high/low pressure switches that enable/disable the system. you need to be at the correct volume of refrigerant as specified on the sticker under the hood. i recommend using the proper equipment, evacuating, pulling a vacuum, and then refilling the system with the appropriate amount.
