Question about 1997 Jeep Cherokee
Have 97 cherokee sport has trouble startingt but will run orig. problem was no spark had bad cam sensor replaced also found bad alt now have correct battery voltage runs ok at idle . around 1500-1800 rpms falls on its face removed converter cause i was seeing around 5 inches of vacume still did not resolve problem thought shutter wheel pos bad in dist for cam sensor when it broke cause it had cut a groove in it so replaced dist still falls on face
Vacuum you are seeing is about 13inches low. either something is causing the timing to stay retarded or the timing chain is stretched beyond it's limit. Id check the MAP and throttle position sensors as they have influence over timing (and fuel mixture) and check the chain for stretch. Since you had the distributor out, it is also possible that you have installed it one tooth off...that also can ****** the timing.
