Question about 2001 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Wednesday evening I filled up with gas at a different gas station than I usually go to. the next morning I left and drove across town and all was fine. When I came out and started the car it was all of a sudden ''running rough'' like it wanted to stall out. I drove home and talked to my brother who said to go get some Canned Heet and gum-out. I put both of those in but my tank was full. Since then, sometimes it seems better and sometimes not. Do you think it's the gas or perhaps something else?

Change fuel filter first. Clogged up with ethanol by product(water and corn liquor that's is produced from the ethanol-really!) It's called EGS(ethanol gas syndrome)You'll have to put a can of SEAFOAM in 1/2 tank of Premiun gas-only! Heet is a waste of money-most of it dissolves before helping with massive water ethanol creates. Gum out does not solve this problem.(trust me-20+ years parts man)Once you do this, you'll see a tremenous change. I feel so bad for people who've never heard of this, and have work done that didn't need to be done.<p>
Do this, and add SF to fuel tank 3-5000 miles in the future and it will stop this from happening again. good luck.

You never leave a car running, as it will
overheat the Exhaust Converter
When you run out of fuel, you sometimes
ruin the Fuel Pump
It depends on gas to lubricate it,as strange as it sounds
Check fuel pressure & volume at the motor with a gauge

I have a 2006 F-150 Lariat SuperCrew and when I am accelerating, at around 45 mph to 55 mph my engine bogs or maybe the transmission is doing something funny. Could it be the O-2 sensors?

I happen to own the same truck as yours
Mine did the same thing too
The first thing I did was go to my reputable gas station (BP.SHELL,etc..)and fill it up with 93 octane gas. I drove it on the highway for 25 miles and the sluggishness went away. I probably had water in my tank which happens to all of us. All fuel stations gets water in their underground tanks at some point. When their tanks at almost empty you will receive some water in your tank. Even if your gas tank is half filled, filling it will make a difference you see for the less amount of water will work its way through with more gas added

the fuel gauge sending unit in the gas tank is a mechanical part, but you may have an electrical problem. the needle is moved by an electrical signal. you can check the wires coming out of the back of the gauge, one will run to a chassis ground. make sure that wire has a good connection to ground, first because it won't work right without it and second because it's lots easier than the next thing you will have to do if that doesn't make an improvement. if you see no difference after checking the ground then you need to drop the tank and replace the fuel level sending unit. you will have to remove the fuel pump to get to it so you might want to replace it while you have it out, that's your call. your vehicle is new enough that the decision would be more based on miles than age. hope that helps
