Got it done. Wasn't as bad as I thought.A swivle and some longer extensions. The wires were harder to put back on.The wires had 1996 on them and the tips on the plugs were almost gone. Check the gap supose to be 44 the old ones were 84.

    Thanks

What is the spark plug gap for a 1996 Ford Ranger 3.0? When purchasing the plugs I was informed it was .44. but I am getting a slight back fire when engine is running.

0.042-0.046 is the correct gap for your spark plugs,If it is backfiring now and was not before make sure you were not sold platinum bosch plugs and if you are using factory plugs, then I be looking for a faulty spark plug. Also make sure the firing order is correct.ramundoo_2.gif

Where is the ignition module control located on 1996 ranger 2.3 e

It does not have an ignition control module. The PCM (powertrain control module) fires the coil pack based on signal it recieves from the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor.
