Question about 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette

Open Question

The power doors won't work on our van either!

I can't believe I haven't been able to find a way to manually over-ride the power doors. THis is a MAJOR saftey hazzard. Esp. when both doors go quit.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
My suggestion is to quit making everything power! Its nice till it doesn't work.
Some days 1 of my doors will work but the other side never does. Unfortunately, the warranty doesn't cover this type stuff. ARGH!

Sounds like a major fuse blown.
Any wiring disconnected or stripped near the pump ?
Have you checked the major fuses around the battery and underhood fuse box ?

Power door locks won't work and the instrument pnnel lights won't turn on. I replaced blown fuse a 20mp one in position 14 I believe. worked ok till I tried to lock the doors, the fuse blew

Hello. Try looking at the black earth that goes from the drivers door and into the A frame which is covered in a rubber sheath. The wire can break after opening and shutting the door over several years and as it's normally the thicker wire is more prone to break. Also check the other wires visually for any chaffing and tugging on each wire. If more electrical parts start failing, air con blowers etc it will be an earth. Hope this helps

2005 Freestar "door open signal"

Chances are the autolock doesn't work because it "sees" a door open. Check the plunger between the door and the frame of each door to see if the plunger is broken, bent, or otherwise not working.

2002 ford windstar van- left front door window won"t work what to do?

Might have to open and see if the powerr comes to the unit. If not there can be a break inthe door hinges section where the main power comes in.
If power is present but not the control, it can be failure of the switch control, failure of the logic control IC, failure of the motor.

From the back of the front door slide your hand in the sliding door crack and find the child-safety-lever. Push the lever up and/or down while moving the sliding door manual lock/unlock button to the up position. Also works on the non-powered sliding door.
